Richmond fan makes unusual wedding plea to AFL chief Andrew Demetriou Al Paton
From: News Limited Network
February 13, 2014 7:33PMA DIE-HARD Richmond fan has written to Andrew Demetriou asking him to schedule any Tiger final around a wedding.
The supporter, identified only as Karen, has gone straight to the top to avoid missing out on what could be Richmond’s fourth finals appearance in 34 years.
Karen says both her daughters — also passionate Tiger fans — are both part of the wedding party in a ceremony booked in for the first Saturday in September.
“As there is a possibility that Richmond will make the finals this year ... could (you) please please please make their game on the Friday night or the Sunday,” Karen writes.
“I hope you don’t find this letter weird as it is a very serious matter to myself and my family.”
Karen explains that her family are loyal Tigers who attend every Victorian game each year plus “a couple of interstate games” and club functions including the best-and-fairest count.
Richmond played its only final last year on the first Sunday of the finals series, losing to Carlton in front of more than 94,000 fans.
