Damian Barrett on the Footy Show just said RFC CEO Benny Gale will be out of the country for two weeks and is off to the World Cup. Barrett added it's not a good look to have "your chief executive out of the country when your club is in turmoil" but it was something prearranged as part of our sponsorship with Jeep.

Did Bin Boy Barrett mention that the Suns's CEO has gone as well because of their sponsor is Fiat? Both Jeep & Fiat are part of the Chrysler group

Of course he didn't because GC aren't playing crap footy

But I digrese....

Simply not a great look at all.

The Club's season is a disaster, the members are fuming and Benny takes off to Brazil  ... terrible look

It's a tremendous look , if a CEO worth his salt couldn't learn a thing or two about team discipline, tactics and leadership whilst at the World Cup for a fortnight then he should leave his keys at the door on the way back in,  :shh

A tremendous look?

It is a terrible look when you as CEO harp on about how important your members are and you know they are hurting, angry and fuming the way the majority (I'll exclude you obviously) of ours are, then trekking off to the other side of the world isn't a good look. No amount of these  :shh :shh will say otherwise

What's he going to learn at lunches, dinners etc. He's there as a guest of a sponsor not a country a sponsor

If you think he is going to get anywhere near teams outside of Australia you are kidding yourself.

Terrific, just terrific TM

Gale should have sent Hardwick in his place.

He then could have personally overseen how choco performed as head coach while dimma was away.

i don't have a problem with it. Sponsors are vital.

Me too, and ill explain briefly below.
Firstly completely understand what WP are feeling and agree about the look etc, however...
Is Brendan supposed to ring the correspondent for jeep and say "oh well look, um were in a bit of a pickle here the club your spending millions of dollars on in sponsorship is up to poo at the moment".. of course not

Brendan Gale is not required to be here on gameday etc sniffing lineament and giving players hugs ffs.

Its clear to me that our main problem is there is a divide between coaches and players, whether intended or not...
Recruiting is also one of the biggest issues amoung other things.

So unless Benny was going to sack the coach, assisants or recruiters mid season.. let him go
He will be gone for a week??

To be honest I don't care.

Yeah, it's not a good look but what's a worse look is the team getting beaten senseless on the field.

Benny can't do anything about our onfield woes. He can be the guest of our sponsor and try to negotiate other sponsorship relationships that may lead to new deals with other organizations that will be there.

Jumping at shadows, some really hysterical posts in this thread.
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.
