From Dimma's post-match media conference ...Playmaker Dustin Martin is a certain inclusion after missing yesterday’s 26-point win over St Kilda with hamstring soreness.
Hardwick said the club faced a tough call whether to recall Try Vickery after serving a four-match suspension.
Hardwick said Martin could have played at a pinch but made the decision to rest him in preparation for the do-or-die clash against the Swans.
“It’s probably one of those games where you take a little bit of a punt (because) he could have played, but we probably thought we were able to win,” he said.
Former captain Chris Newman, who made a brilliant start to the contest helping the Tigers kick six straight goals to open the game, could be in doubt after coming off with a groin or thigh concern.
Daniel Jackson is also available after a solid VFL performance but Hardwick said the club would also consider restructuring its forward line to fit Vickery.
Hardwick said Vickery had been “training the house down” and might have to be called upon to partner big men Ben Griffiths and Ivan Maric to combat Sydney’s imposing talls.
“We’ve just got to see whether we can fit all three in, because look, they’re a big side Sydney and there’s going to be a lot of up and down the line stuff, so we will address that during the week,” he said.
Asked if there was some reluctance to meddle with a working combination, Hardwick said: “There is a little bit, but you have also got to take some risks at some stage.”
