Griffiths' place in the side is safe according to Dimma.

Jackson set for recall, Vickery in the mix

RICHMOND appears set to recall experienced midfielder Dan Jackson for Sunday's elimination final against Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval, but key forward Ty Vickery is far less likely to regain his place in the team.

After finally shaking off his injury problems, Jackson missed his club's round 23 win over the Sydney Swans because he copped a one-match suspension following an altercation in the VFL the week before.

But Tigers coach Damien Hardwick remains a fan of what Jackson can bring to the table in the tough and rugged theatre that is finals footy.

"He's ready to go," Hardwick said on Monday afternoon.

"He's a finals-type player, he's hard, he's tough, he's in our leadership group, he's a quality bloke.

"He hasn't had probably the season he would've liked – ruined generally through injury.

"But it’s one of those decisions we'll make. If he helps us win we'll put him in."

But Vickery, who hasn't played in the AFL since copping a four-match suspension for striking Dean Cox in round 18, is facing a far tougher battle to convince the coach that he should take on the Power.

Vickery's key problem is that his replacement, Ben Griffiths, has been a star performer in Richmond's improbable charge to the finals.

"Griff's obviously secured a spot, absolutely," Hardwick said. "Ty is a selection decision we'll make.

"Griff, to his credit, has played consistent footy since Ty's gone out. Once you're in the side it's hard to go out if you're playing a good, consistent brand of footy.

"Whether we have the third tall this week (is a decision we have to make). Last week we chose to go without it.

"It will be a selection call we make on Thursday or Friday."

Barely played a game without getting injured. What's the point, get him right for next year

Not sure about that Smokey, reckon Jacko is the big body we want for a hard edge in a final. His fit and might be a nice match up for one of their mids as a run with.
It's that simple Spud
"I discussed (it) with my three daughters, my wife and my 82-year-old mum, because it has really affected me … If those comments … were made about one of my daughters, it would make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. I would not have liked it at all.”

Agree we could use his body and hardness but my point was directed at his fitness.  He only played 1 full game in the reserves after many weeks out injured and after his interrupted season as a whole he couldn't possibly be guaranteed sound enough to compete and last a full finals match a la Newman last year.  We can't afford a passenger and I think he is at too much risk of being one this time around.

Wouldn't mind Buddy.
Who isn't a fan of the thinking man's orange Tim Fleming?

And their bombs and their guns.
In your head, in your head, they are crying...

Id swap in a heartbeat. Fyfe might win a brownlow if he stops getting suspended.  Might poll 20+ votes this year.

So how bout we swap out dusty for dea,  Chimp for an orangutan and Chaapy for kermit the frog.  You know sheeds would do it and they'd somehow win with the frog getting BOG in a mud puudle of a game.

In the Mix - Finals Week 1

RICHMOND

The Tigers will have to decide on whether to play Dan Jackson, after his return from a hip/groin injury was stalled last week when he was suspended for an incident in the VFL. Ty Vickery is in a similar boat after failing to gain a call up last week when his four-match suspension ended. But it's a hard team to break into at the moment given the Tigers haven't lost since round 14. Matt Thomas has not played since round 20 due to a knee complaint but faces a tough task to break into the midfield if deemed fit, while it remains to be seen if David Astbury's three quarters in the Tigers' final VFL match last weekend will be enough to see him return to the seniors for this epic clash in Adelaide.
