Watching teams over the finals last couple weeks I have noticed one thing stands out over us ,they have good users of the pill with skill across there backline. If you have a deep close look at our half backs besides Vaustin who will go to the guts soon, the rest have poor skills and kicking.Guys like Petterd,Morris,Batch,Houli(cracks under pressure).Dea  havent seen enough of him to comment. When Lids was playing there we had so much drive and execution out of the back half as his skills and kicking are spot on.It is a area we struggle in and needs  attention bigtime.

Michael Hibberd would be a good get and a few kids in the draft.

Petterd hardly plays in defence now. It's only really Morris. Not sure if his shoulder effected his kicking or not but it wasn't good this year

I always thought the weakness of our halfback line/ small defenders isn't the kicking because Morris' hands and Houli's kicking is quite serviceable. But more so our backline gets demolished by small forwards which just canter into our D50 and kick goals with relative ease. Small forwards have been a kryptonite to the RFC team for ages and we let the likes of Ballantyne kick 6 against us, Jake Neade kick 3, Garlett could've kicked 4.0 instead of 1.3, and even Nahas kicked 2 on us.

Maybe if he used his leg, the rest would take care of itself?
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

Should fast track his cousin - they reckon he's years away but he's still probably already better than Hamspud.

I have been calling our backline impotent for years since the Kellaways left and the best we have picked up is Morris and Chappy!!!

Need to get that area sorted out!!!!

No, genuine strength of the side, with dea and McIntosh unable to break in it's an embarrassment of riches  :clapping

Our backline has some future potential in Astbury snd Grimes who will both hit 50+ games next year if they stay injury free by which time they ought to be influencing games.  For both its taken a long time and if either get injured again you would think its curtains.

Saying that Id love Aussie Jones or Leon Cameron to distribute the ball. I liked when Lids was in the defense. If the hawks can sacrifice Hodge out of the middle to fix up a defense you think we could sacrifice a high draft pick too.  Oh we did Batchelor.......hmmmmm  Hope he comes good.

Loved how Bomber Thompson put Hurley the annointed one into defense this year and the bummers leaked less points.

Thinking out loud here, who could we put into defense as a distributor? Grigg? He seems like houli not enough body contact type of player. Sugestions anyone? Bueller? Anyone?
