Campbell has two weeks to decide on retiring

Richmond coach Terry Wallace has given Wayne Campbell a fortnight to decide whether he will stick with his decision to retire, or play on next year towards his 300th match.
Wallace sat down with the long-serving Tiger in Perth over the weekend to discuss the situation, with the coach setting the deadline to ensure Campbell could have a proper farewell to football if he chose to retire, or if he pushed on for a 16th season, to shape him into his post-season plans.
Richmond, who lost to the Dockers by 27 points on Saturday night, plays its next two games against the Western Bulldogs and Hawthorn at Telstra Dome, but its final game is against Geelong at Skilled Stadium — ruling it out as the time and place to farewell Campbell should the former captain decide to retire.
Wallace said Campbell's main concern — apart from the commitment he had made to his fiancee to travel overseas together next year — was that he did not want to go on for a season too long just for the sake of a milestone. Wallace, given Campbell's superb form this year, was only too happy to include him on his list next year.
With three games left and the Tigers unlikely to play finals, Campbell is set to finish the year with 297 games. He would be only the fourth Tiger to reach 300 games if he went on in 2006.
"It's his decision and always has been," Wallace said. "The conversation was along the lines that he just wants to make sure he goes on for the right reasons.
"He doesn't want to go on just for the 300 games. He wants to know he'll have a worthwhile role in the side and if that's the right or the wrong thing to do. I gave him a couple of things to think about."
