Hands like a steel trap this kid with more tricks than David copperfield , most good  judges rating him as the next big thing. 12 months of development in our vfl nursery and he ll be cherry ripe  :shh

OK, maybe to say Buddy was not physically imposing was wrong. My point was that you don't have to be a monster KPF to be successful.  If you are quick and skilful enough you don't need to be super strong.

Richard is not that far off that mark ...

Buddy is not imposing in the sense of a key forward in the traditional sense

he plays as a hff / wing / pocket
Then he grabbed two chopsticks and stuck them in his mouth , pretending to be a walrus

McBean has some good skills but at AFL level he looked to be a bit of a one trick pony. He was getting the 3rd or 4th defender. Yes he's good at ground level, yes he's very agile for his size, but for the most part he was a lead up forward and little else. Did show a bit tho
A tall athletic defender wouldn't have much trouble keeping him quiet. not a skinny defender, think someone in the Jack Hombch/Alex Rance/James Frawley mould. All very good 1v1 and of similar athletic capablities as Bean
I'm not sure Hawthorn would play Frawley on McBean or we would play Rance on a player like McBean. 2 AA players and Hombch is up and coming.
I'd think Hawthorn would play Birchell or Stratton on McBean and I think both guys could be shown up by his height in marking contests and even McBean on a lead.

MeBean IMO is a player who just knows where the ball is going, it's nothing a stat sheet can tell you or nothing you can really put your finger on. He is what people would class as a natural footballer.

I cannot ever see him getting 20 kicks a game but I can see him getting 10 kicks a game and kicking 5 goals. I don't think he will ever put on enough weight to be the number one forward but I can see him playing close to goal and hurting teams with his smarts and his unique size and agility.

The best thing about him is he is a great kick at goal. If you arnt going to get it much you need to make the most of every opportunity.

I think he should model his game on Jack Gunston. McBean isn't as good in the air as Jack but I could see him playing the floating roll in our forward 50. He really needs to get extremely fit to be able to outrun the Birchells or Strattons of the AFL.

Fair point, but I was more answering your question as to how some defenders would find it easy to defend against Beaner. Fair call on those blokes probably not playing on him,Hombch is better than up and comer though.

Interesting you mention Stratton. I rate him incredibly high, he is a great defender. If we could have him in our side instead of Batchelor we'd be doing a lot better.

If u have deledio Lennon jack Martin Cotchin yarren Vickery Griffiths titch Maric as viable forward options

...Chances are McBean would not be getting the best defender every week, if he was to eve get a game one of these years. Perhaps he'd even get off th leash

He's won multiple Coleman medals or there abouts - in Vfl form - even if he is easy to defend against

VFL leading goal kicker with what, 32 goals? sure he's consistent but not like he's dominating. has deserved more games than he's received tho

you cant play al those players in the same team. and defenders who play on Yarren and Shane edwards will not be options for Mcbean obviously. and they seem dead set on not playing mcbean, griff, ty in the same team.

Big Tone has nailed it on McBean  :cheers
Not sure why this is on big Reece's thread
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

On last years form, Reece is about 2-3 years behind McBean. That could change if Reece takes the next step faster than anticipated.
They are also very different players and would play different positions.

Think Reece is a bit more physically developed than McBean so although he will still be behind in 2016, I think he'll be more physically ready to play AFL and therefore close the gap. And although they are different players they would be competing for the same spot, being 3rd tall forward. Whether you, me or anyone else agree's, we all know Reiwoldt and Vickery are pretty much (conservitably) a lock for the 1st and 2nd tall. So although they play different either McKenzie and McBean would come in and play 3rd fiddle
