Hmm no tackling stats. Seeing as Puopolo plays almost exclusively the defensive forward role i would have thought stats that show applied pressure are important.
Have to ask how long ago was it that we had a player who lays over 100 tackles in a season. I cant think of one over the last three yrs.

Puopolo has managed to play in three premierships for a reason.
yeah, he was drafted to hawthorn.

If he had been drafted to a dozen or so of the other teams in the comp he wouldn't have won any premierships, and hawthorn would most probably still have won those three.

And Short would most probably have played in 3 flags had he been drafted.
If Puapolo and Short both played at Hawthorn would they have won 6 flags?

You just proved yourself to be the idiot I think you are. I didn't compare the two players.  Go back and have a look and if you are any sort of a man you'll say you are an idiot and we can all move on with the conformation from the idiot that you are indeed an idiot. Congratulations  :wallywink

Congrats and deserved :cheers short is next to jack as far as footy smarts go.....and his kicking :bow
Is he as good as puopolo?
You are all dreaming if you think he is any good

Jayden Short.                             Paul Puopolo
20yo 16 games                           23yo    133 games
Height 177.   72kg.                     Height  173.    78kg
Averages.                                   Averages
Disposals 14.88                           Disposals 14.71
Kicks 11.81                                 Kicks 7.41
Marks 3.38.                                 Marks 2.41
Handballs 3.06                            Handballs 7.81
Goals 0.38                                  Goals 0.98

If it's Puopolo we're comparing with he's tracking along quite nicely....

http://afltables.com/afl/stats/players/P/Paul_Puopolo.html
There is a stat you missed- 3x Premiership player. Makes all the other numbers sound pretty stupid.

There is your comparison right there you nuffer. So are you now man enough to admit you're in fact the idiot?

Just so it is clear to everyone my interpretation is as follows;

* Big Note didn't put up the initial comparison
* Big Note however did add to the initial comparison by adding another comparison factor ie premierships
* Big Note then went on to say because Puopolo was a premiership player x 3 that the other comparison factors where all stupid

To summarise Big Note has inferred by his posts that comparing Short and Puopolo is valid and the most material factor is premierships played.

If anyone else has a different interpretation of what has happened please advise.
My interpretation is you are an oxygen thief that is the "token" funny guy on this forum but the problem is your "jokes" are lame, which makes you the joke.
On the very rare occasions you decide to add something worth reading you follow it up with 10 stupid posts that only idiots like Yeahright think are funny. Half the forum recently commented when you actually had something worth reading. Surely that would make you think your "entertainment value" as the resident clown, has worn thin.
Yearight is an idiot but at least he contributes to this forum sometimes, and I do use the word "sometimes" loosely, but you Little Chunky have bored readers for far too long. I actually cringe when I see you have posted, which is a lot which makes me think other things about you but i won't go into as I wouldn't want to get personal.
Here's a tip, either get some decent material or try a new tacked because your boring dog sh27 jokes have gone on long enough.
I must admit though I'm looking forward to your side splitting reply as I'm sure most are.
Classic dad jokes coming to you from the one and only Little Chunky....again.....and again.... and again.... and again.... and again....

So you are saying you don't disagree with how I interpreted the posts between you and YR, thanks for the confirmation  :thumbsup

By the way he reacted, I think he agrees with you. Hit a nerve I'd say and can only do that by telling the truth :lol

I was surprised Short was brought into the side this week given he didn't play in the JLT series but he proved me wrong. He didn't miss a beat and his rebound run and long kicking off half-back was very important to our win tonight.

Looks like an All-Australian compared to Hunt.

Did well. Commentary team praised Rance for stopping a near certain scoring shot (which he did help) but for me it was all down to Shorts defensive running covering 3 men

The skilful, speedy, small defender picked up 18 disposals, including three rebound-50s, three inside-50s and took three marks.

Most significantly, Short had a game-high 634 metres gained – a key statistic which underlined his running power and long-kicking ability.

Compare the metres gained off HF to the BEllis of last year off HB.
Keep playing these young kids in Short, Markov, George, Rioli and Bulter and we could potentially found some very decent players for the next 10 years.
Just need to find a few young KPP to grow along with them.

Thought Shorty's barrel at around the 3 mins to go mark in the last to Rioli was delicious, set up the sealer for Caddy. He is a very smart player and one of the better kicks in the side, straightens us up regularly with his pinpoint passing..

yep and most pleasingly for mine, hes starting to get his hands dirty and doing a bit of the unfashionable stuff like defending, chasing, tackling and shepherding. Dont want him developing into another chris newman where the only thing hes worried about is being the release player and getting his 20-25 kicks a game

Overated.
Betts will maul him.
Betts is the one anybody needs to judge him or any smallish defender against.
Betts and Cameron will gave a field day.

Sorry but that's a bit over the top.

You are going to judge a young guy on his performance on one of the best small forwards of the last decade who plays in a strong team that gives him constant supply?

Give me a break.

I agree -  if , at the grand old age of 21, Short gets beaten by arguably the greatest small forward of the modern era who's toweled up pretty much every small defender out there at some point, then we can safely declare that he's overrated....
