I don't blame George either, as someone mentioned need others to move past him.

His one wood is his quick over 5-20m and has the potential to tackle. I say potential because he’s being shown up by MRJ. I don’t think he has the composure to play defence . That being said if he took a Steven Morris type role and helped dev our kids in vfl (getting body right, preparation etc) I wouldn’t be upset

The behind the goal vision makes George's miss even worst if that's possible  :help.

Nah stuff the open goal, let's wait until the opposition defender runs over in front of you before kicking it :banghead  :banghead  :banghead.

Selfish....

A handball over the top and the game is sealed.

But oh no, I can do it!

George is one of those very ordinary players who has been in a very good team and he has jagged 3 premierships.

Trade him whilst he has a little value

His crap skills add to why it was touched. Ball drop to the insert of the foot is just horrible :wallywink

Just seen the Clangers ad on TV.

No surprise Castanga represented the tigers

Andrew Harris’s Grimes impression was there, cracks me up every time I see it

I think you give Castagna too much credit.

Facts are he is a really really really really stupid footballer. Has no idea, no awareness or football perception had no idea the player was even there or was going to attempt to smother.

And even on the minuscule chance it did occur to him to handpass over the top, which I highly doubt, the ball would have been either way too high or way too low for the player running into the goalsquare. It’s highly unlikely that the handball would’ve been executed correctly and would have been a behind anyway.
Just a very dumb dunce of a player with no idea.

How on earth has he played in 3 Premierships? It's absolutely remarkable given his skill level.

TIGERS FORWARD RECEIVES SUPPORT AFTER “UNFAIR” FLAK

By Alex Zaia
SEN
13 July 2022

Richmond youngster Hugo Ralphsmith has thrown his support behind teammate Jason Castagna.

Castagna had the chance extend the Tigers’ advantage against Gold Coast on Saturday, only to have his kick smothered as he closed in on goal.

At the time, Richmond led by 17 points with less than six minutes left in the final quarter.

Castagna’s touched behind was the visitors’ last score of the match as the Suns kicked three late goals to seal a remarkable two-point after-the-siren win.

Ralphsmith, the Rising Star nominee for Round 17, says the forward’s mistake wasn’t the sole reason the Tigers lost the match.

“I think it definitely is a bit unfair (the criticism),” Ralphsmith told SEN Afternoons.

“There wasn’t just one moment that would’ve iced the game.

“‘Jase’ is a really tough dude. He doesn’t look into that quite as much, and neither do we.

“We back him as a player, and we back his ability.

“You play it over in your head a little bit, there’s moments in a game that I’ve played over in my head that I wish I did a little bit differently.

“That moment, I don’t think, defined the game.”

Good on you for sticking up for your team mate, and generally well spoken.

BUT

“That moment, I don’t think, defined the game.”

Couldn't disagree more. It was significantly easier than Aarts or Rioli's misses. It absolutely F'd the momentum.

I think that George failed to save the game for us ... but he had plenty of mates ...     :-\

However you want to put it, it cant be denied that it was a terrible lack of composure that someone of his experience should never have made.

Just how many opportunities did he blunder ?
Of course Hugo isn’t going to come out and berate Castagna to the media but this game is just a perfect example of why you can’t back Castagna in. You can’t trust his skills, decision making or anything ! The only thing you can trust is that you will shake your head when you watch him
