Reckon it's a good choice. Don't have to be a good player to be a good leader

:huh :huh :huh....really, so if he gets dropped how good a leader is he then, as WP has alluded to though, that wont happen. What about when he gets reported?? Good leader then??
So, he is a poo leader because of something that may occur in the future?

He's our best small defender by a mile, was playing with one shoulder all year - he won't get dropped nor should he

Players clearly rate him. Players vote!

Is Chaplin really highly rated from within?

Reiwoldt and Rance obviously don't have the confidence of the players. Maybe there jovial side isn't rated.

Or, do the coaches have the final say?

Not going to disagree with the players, but I just don't think I ever see him do as much leadery stuff like Rance and stuff. Clearly does stuff on the track I don't see that the players look up to. All I can think of regarding someone like Rance is they declined or requested not to be nominated.

No, but I would of thought Rance would of been a more likely selection down back.

Rance is a good player but he's also got the mental capacity of a 10 year old.

Not sure pretending to be a window washer on Punt Road is exactly the sort of leadership we need at this point.

Well we can't have someone in the leadership group who never plays because he is suspended

Everyone runs the risk of being reported so not sure of your point. To answer your question though, there is much more to leadership than playing every game. He can set the standard at training as well on the ground, show the professionalism required outside the club and not that I know if he really is but he seems to be a very approachable guy which is very beneficial to new and old players that might have something to say. Of course you want someone who plays more games than not (which Morris does) but it is not a requirement IMO and is probably the difference between being a captain (or vice) and being part of the leadership group.

Who cares if he jokes around in the off season!

The guy is a gun and leads by example ON THE FIELD!

Also SETS STANDARDS AT TRAINING!

That is what I would want from my leaders.  After all it is a game of football not a university course!!!
OER. Calling it as it is since 2004.

Curious as to what peoples definition of leadership is
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways my ways,” says the Lord.

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are my ways higher than your ways,
And my thoughts than your thoughts."
