I dont know how this will come across but I will say it. It really angers me how this person came into our country, has committed several crimes and was still walking the streets. We need to be tougher on people like this. He should have been thrown out long ago. It is a privilege to live in this country, not a right

Not a good outcome, at least the nutcase who started it all is no longer walking the streets.

It's difficult sometimes to separate discussion on specific incidents like this from broader issues of, for example, terrorism, government and the media. I think what has happened has for example, been fascinating from a media perspective and the thinking from the control room.

Whether you agree with some of the statements made on this and other threads I guess depends on your world view. Some pretty wild statements but also some very narrow minded ones.

Anyways it's over now. Condolences to the families of the deceased.

That's just terrible. Worst outcome possible.

It's horrible.

Worst outcome was a suicide bombing, killing everyone and destroying the area at the same time.

At least he is dead. That can't be a bad thing.

RIP to the innocents that died and all the best to those that survived the ordeal.

This nutjob harassed Jason Morrison when he was on 2GB for about 6 years. He was the one who sent disgusting letters to the parents of deceased Soldiers and was found guilty of this offence. He was on a charge of accessory to Murder, was on multiple rape charges and he still walks the streets free??? I hope the Judge who gave him bail can sleep well at night!  >:(
Walking the streets when he should be locked up, just like that tosser who killed Jill Meagher. Our Legal system is stuffed. Hopefully this tragic event will be a watershed moment.

The Cafe Manager who lost his life was a Hero of the highest order. RIP to him and the young lass who were taken from this world way to early in life and condolences to their families.

The guy is pure scum and it's a shame he was killed. Torture would have been fitting as it would for the person who killed those kids in Cairns

The laws are so pathetic in this country it really is. I know a couple from Singapore and they were telling me how scared people are to hurt steal or cause harm to others because of their legal system

That's how our country should aim to be, but instead a slap on the wrist is all most get unfortunately.

It's the worst thing about our country

I agree Angus. The system this week couldn't even apply a life sentence to the Oakville cop killer up here because he was apparently suffering delusions.

serious questions need to be asked about our judiciary system when nutcases with a history like this bloke is out on bail, and i doubt too many people would disagree that there are many people who are not being taken off the streets for long enough for their crimes.

But this only keeps them off the streets, it does not deter their actions

Both these blokes were mental cases. the idea of being caught or the severity of their punishment does not even come into their thought processes. They are are beyond rational thinking.

As for wanting torture as a punishment, well that pretty much puts you in the same league as the mental cases. If you behave like them, then you are no better than them.

That's exactly right Tiga. Does the government really care? I doubt it not enough jail cells hence why they try and rehabilitate these animals.

The pedos are the worst kind of predators who in my view don't deserve any type of second chance. Screw em. Yet they are the ones protected the most from the ones who lock em up

Scary that they could live in your street.

The system is completely stuffed

How does torturing her make any difference?

How can you claim any moral high ground, when you are just as stuffed in the head and want to behave in the same barbaric way?

What is becoming clearer and clearer daniel, is that there is not much difference between you and these type of people in the way you think, and I'm willing to bet you are incapable of answering these two questions in a rational manner.

Let's not personalize it to that extent.

Our society is partly based on a belief of the ability to rehabilitate.

not that I agree in all cases especially pedos

i have no doubt that there are many who cannot be rehabilitated, and there are people who by their actions forgo any right to be part of society.

So no torture but euthanasia then?

To stab 8 kids, 7 of her own, she must have some serious, serious mental health issues going on.

Not sure any punishment will ever be worse than living in her own head.
