Rounds 1 to 5 - Will we get off to a flyer?
« on: January 22, 2015, 04:36:21 PM »
After last year's terrible start, you'd expect us this year to be keen to hit the ground running early on so we aren't playing catch up again and needing to come from the clouds in the back half of the season.

So do you think we will get off to a flyer in the first month?

1. Carlton @ M.C.G.
2. Bulldogs @ M.C.G.
3. Brisbane @ 'Gabba
4. Melbourne @ M.C.G.
5. Geelong @ M.C.G.

We will win 4 - logic suggests we will get beaten by Geelong.

We will lose to Carlton not because we are worse than them but because we are mentally weak. We will then beat Footscray by a fair bit and then lose to the reinvigorated Lions at the Gabba finally, after that Melbourne will also beat us and we will then lose to Geelong as well.

Should win at least 2, could win up to 4 IMO, so I reckon we'll win 3.

Games against Carlton, Dogs and Melbourne aren't lock-ins. Hardly beat Carlton last year, lost to both Dogs and Dees. Geelong will beat us as usual. Normally beat Brisbane, but I reckon they'll be a different team this year with Rich coming back, Beams coming in, Luenberger fit, young talls a year older etc.

Well here we go again, hyping ourselves up again, then reality sets in  :lol

Honestly though, we should be 5 up. It's time we beat the Cats and the first 5 will tell if we are for real....

If Hardwick is to keep his job he would want to be 4-0 and then we would have a good crack at Geelong on our own turf.

The other thing I will be interested in is when we meet Geelong at 4-0 it will be a huge game, 70k+ at the MCG on a Saturday arvo.

Whether or not we poo the bed will give us a much better idea of if the group has the capacity to challenge.

It's ok we can all clap the team off when Melbourne beat us by 8 goals and we are 1-3

History suggests we will poo the bed against the Cats. Club has already penned in a loss.

gotta agree phil. there is only one game there that you can 100% say yep we will win it.  people still refuse to admit that most games for us are 50/50.

As opposed to which other clubs? Hawthorn perhaps? It's an "even" competition and there are very few gimmes.
Not sure anyone is going to disagree with that sentiment.
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.
