Can a finger really keep you out 8-9 weeks ? Couldnt he just strap the bugger to the finger next to it and play on without surgery ? I dont know much.. seems like he may be getting his shoulder fixed instead though

No definitely a ruptured tendon in his finger, which means and OER's doc can confirm but the tendon moves long the finger and is out of place and the only way it can be fixed is by surgery.

It is painful and that's what happened here. The tendon has been re-attached, similar to what they do when the hamstring tendon is ruptured and gets ra-attached to the bone

Nothing to do with his shoulder

Correct WP. The tendon is a relatively poorly supplied tissue when it comes to blood supply. Because of this, healing takes a lot longer!
OER. Calling it as it is since 2004.

are we talking about a mallet finger here?

Difficult to know but I would guess not. Most mallet finger injuries can be treated conservatively.

Yeah pretty much a more serious finger injury that takes time to heal. Unlike a fractured/dislocated finger it can't just be strapped to the finger next door

Why doesn't they amputate his troublesome shoulder while they're at it! :whistle
