Picking over the Carlton carcass....
« on: May 29, 2015, 11:11:55 PM »
So it's pretty obvious they'll be having a clean out at season's end , so anyone worth targeting? The key to me would be to see if we can exploit their desperation and get some decent players for unders that would add to our list.

Already said I think Rowe would be handy if Rance nicks off and maybe Henderson as a swingman -wouldn't want to pay too much for him though. Would consider Rowe. Would only consider Henderson if Rance leaves and we missed out on others and even then probably not all that seriously.

Tom Bell's a big goal kicking midfielder who can take a mark and play forward, which are always handy and we need bigger mids, still looks like a bit of an unco hack at times though. Would consider though not strongly - not entirely convinced he'd add value to the list

Yarran of course fills several needs - speed and skill can play forward, back & flanks - but is inconsistent. Would consider dependent on cost. Would definitely add to our list though IMO.

Gibbs & Murphy of course would be great quality additions whatever you think of them, but reckon they'd cost way too much and are probably among the few that won't be on the table along with the likes of Menzell, Docherty and Simpson who's probably been their best player over the last two seasons.

Then there's Cotchin's best mate Kruezer - talented player who would help our ruck depth, restricted free agent this year but massively injury prone, missed a hell of a lot of footy and potential Chris Knights Mk.II except likely a lot more expensive salary wise. Pass for me.

Anyone else?

Want:
Gibbs
Yarran
Cripps
Jamison
Menzel

Would consider:
Henderson
Walker
Bell
Rowe

Kreuzer hasn't done anything to suggest he's more than a B-grader IMO.

To be honest no player really jumps out at me.

I guess Yarran would be an improvement...maybe......but meh

Id take Yazz but would prefer Motlop.

Cripps menzel etc won't go anywhere

If Francis Hackson finally started to find us diamonds out of the draft we wouldn't need to look at these monkeyball type recruits

Yarran half back & Motlop half forward & another decent ruck/forward and I might just start dancing along with BJ at our premiership prospects.   :dancing :highclap :dogdance

The club that keeps giving.

I'd only take Menzel or a fit Kreuzer. The rest would quickly become whipping boys.

LMAO ROWE

Franklin got away from him in the end but he stopped him in his tracks for good part of the game after he towled up White early. If Rance leaves he would be handy depth in defence if we could get him on the cheap. Who else do we have really? Astbury & Chaplin? How's Elton going today in the McGoos?  Perhaps we'll start making Grimes play on key forwards? Move Griffiths back again? Good luck relying on that.

They won't give yarran away, if a r2 or astbury swap couldn't do it, I'd take walker , although prob getting on isn't he

kruzer would be perfect, but yarren would be pretty handy too. as much as a flog as he is

you would need to look elsewhere rather than carlton for a rance replacment. unless its jamison for a short term soulution
