Richmond midfielder Shane Edwards has escaped serious injury, but is expected to be unavailable for the Tigers’ next 2-3 matches.

Scans today confirmed a hairline fracture in his right fibula, which he sustained in the third quarter of Friday night’s win over Carlton at the MCG.

It was initially feared Edwards had a broken leg, which would have required an extended period of time out of the game.

He was subbed out after the incident, which occurred halfway through the third quarter, and he was on crutches after the match.

The 26-year-old has played in 12 games this season so far, and has averaged 21 disposals, four tackles and four clearances per match.

Well  I suppose it gives a Lennon or McDonut the chance to step up for 3 weeks and show what they have got. Donut would be the likely choice to fill Edwards position.

Hope they don't rush it, but a big loss. Lennon is the obvious replacement for mine. Wanna see him given another crack, he's class.

As for the debate on breaks and fractures. Any structural damage to bones are referred to as fractures and there are different types, Greenstick or Hairline or Total for eg differ in the degree of the damage.

To lose Titch at this stage of the season puts the onus on the 22 left.

Thanks for that but it doesn't answer 2 key questions:/
