At three quarter time the scores were @EssendonVFL 10.7.67 leading @RichmondVFL 4.8.32

We then kicked the first 5 goals in a row of the last quarter [McDonough 2, McBean, Knights & L.Conca] to reduce the margin to just one goal [ Rich 9.8-62 to Ess 10.8-68 ]

Essendon, however, have kicked the last goal. So it's 62 - 74 at the 20 minute mark of the last.

A lesson in you can't play one quarter of decent footy and expect to win playing catch-up footy.

Final Score

Richmond    0.5     1.8      4.8        9.9-63
Essendon    1.1     5.3     10.7      12.8-80

Goals: McBean 2, McDonough 2, Knights, Soldo, L.Conca, Mellington, Scott.

Is Mellington only 19? I assumed we picked up that one that used to play for Freo (or maybe he still does?), which would mean he would of been older than that. Not to bad then

This is NICK Mellington, younger brother of JOSH Mellington.
Both playing with Benalla Saints Footy club in 2014/15.

Nick when not playing with Bushies and Richmond as 23rd man last year.
Josh was delisted by Freo in 2013 and played last half of last year with Benalla.
This year Josh has played all year and leads GVFL goalkicking with 79 at 4.94 average.
Benalla second on GVFL ladder ATM.

Yep, Nick goes ok I reckon, a little slow would be my knock on him

His dad drives down from Benalla to most games & I have got to know him a bit, nice fella , he hates Barlow & McQualter a lot !!!

Why?

P.S thanks Redan

hE BELEIVES mCQUALTER IS TAKING A KIDS SPOT IN THE MIDDLE & ON BALL, I AGREE TO A certain extent, also
McQualter decided not to play in the VFL last week so he could play with his suburban club & therefore qualify for finals, seemed selfish, his words not mine

sorry about caps.

Can confirm McQualter is a fantastic guy and plays an on field coaching role match day. Highly regarded. Mellington shows plenty of promise and looks to be a hard inside mid. Hope we look at picking him up in either draft.

Probably is a great bloke & I know what role he plays most match days as I go to nearly every VFL game, but He didn't last week as he played @ his suburban club as I said & at least one of our VFL players reckons that's selfish

FYI , Nick was also very good again today, just have a knock on his pace

Will be a star
Can play
Don't be surprised if we have injuries in next few weeks that he gets a game as a sub

I have seen him play on several occasions. Maybe he has improved as the last time I saw him play was a while ago.
