Said this before but it is FOOTball we are discussing here, how does a player advance through the junior ranks, then to rep teams and ultimately drafted into the AFL if they can't kick properly. You would think by that stage their kicking skills should be elite across the board. Interesting comment by Roos recently on AFL360 where he stated that around the world in elite sporting competitions the AFL is one of the only competitions where at the top level you have to have development of the players within the clubs. Really need to look at why these players have deficiencies when making the top levels, obviously as Roos pointed out there is a huge gulf in standard between the feeder comps and AFL, this needs to be looked at to ensure that half a players window of performance isn't wasted just being developed to AFL standard.
Reduce the competition back to 12 teams, problem solved.  :thumbsup

...... And while we're at it, every team plays on saturday arvos only, each team play each other twice in the home & away season and we go back to a final 5. :cheers
The club that keeps giving.

You were told right.

How many players with terrible kicks are considered above average AFL players?

Rance was but should be back to back AA this year. Jobe Watson, now he's a brownlow medalist*. Same goes for Priddis although he's probably a poorer example. Need I go on?

none of those players ARE terrible kick. If they once were then it was before they became good players. And there are very few success stories with poor kicking. Rances issue was more related to decision making.
Basically if you're a crap kick you're not a good player. It's a fundamental skill.

I'm referring to your "that's not what I was told" comments which struck me as a bitchy little dig at those who don't share your appreciation for players who can't hit a stuffing 10 meter stationary  target. .
Have I misunderstood you?

I'd argue Jobe is a poor kick but I guess you could argue that all day. At the end of the day though, can you improve it? People seem to people you can't

No, not everything is a bitchy dig at you. Are you not old enough to understand that? Judging by your response I assume you aren't any older than 12
