thoughts on his game anyone just plain ordinary again imo.

Solid- does his job as usual.

Thought he was average. Just shows no intensity for the contest on so many occasions.

Best example I can give is in the dying seconds of the 3rd qtr, lace out pass that if he dived he could have go to, he didn't dive and didn't even appear to be running at rule speed...

In a word frustrating.... :-\

I just can't see the negatives with him or others in our side who play their role. Provides outlets and runs all day. 2 goals is a great result :clapping

2 goals is a nice return.

5 pressure acts and 1 tackle for his role isn’t good enough IMO.
The club that keeps giving.

Be funny if MJ's eventual debut came at his expense, like when Steve Waugh was dropped for Mark Waugh... :shh

Appreciate what his role is but sometimes his role requires him to impose himself or attack a contest to increase pressure on the opposition. That part of his game seems to be lacking or at times non existent.... I see Jason Castagna for all is faults do that consistently, he may not succeed but I never question his attack or intensity around the contest

He has been average since 2017.

Aarts half the player, double the effort.

If we hadn't traded guys like Butler and Higgins I would think Dan's place in the team would be in jeopardy but I don't think we have any other small forwards to push him out now. MRJ hopefully when he's ready...

Lambert Edwards Bolton Graham  possibly Stack if he ever gets his head screwed on. they all offer more simply by being part of mid field rotations. They have all played small fwd role as a part of rotations.
For the life of me i cant see why we just can't rotate these blokes thru there and just pee Rioli off until improves his game.

The one i really hope makes the grade is RCD A 190cm plus mid who in a lot of ways is explosive.  playing him fwd   really would offer up a real point of difference for us and allow us to rotate  one of him and  Dusty permanently thru the fwd half.
Reckon this kid if trained in the role would crunch his fair share of defenders coming out of the back half and his height size would demand a tall defender.

FF Castagna 181/82 - Lynch 199/99 - RCD 191/ 91 Rotate with Martin 187/90

HF Aarts 177/75 - Riewoldt 193/93 - Bolton 175/77 - Edwards 182/82 - Lambert 178/77 - Stack 179/? all could rotate thru there while being a significant part of midfield rotations.

had a good first quarter and popped up a few times with goal opportunities but never took them.
Thought he was largely invisible for most of the game.

He has less than half of the intensity that he showed in 2017. Has become a real passenger.

Plenty of talent, no killer instinct.

May be this is as good as it gets for Daniel.

But how would you feel if it was Higgins or Butler who had stayed and Daniel was running around in St Kilda colours?

I think we have made the right call but would love to see RCD, get a run at Daniels expense.

Watched him closely and the intense run seems to have had has gone  missing

I agree that he needs to get more of the ball.

But had he kicked a couple of those goals yesterday - that to be fair he would normally nail - I dont think we'd be having this discussion.

Not sure about that.

A few of us were critical of him last week despite his 2 goals. Same with Aarts. Only different is that Aarts' limitation is probably ability, not effort.

As naturally talented as he is, he's main flaw is that he's not quite the one-touch player like the rest of his clan are...at least not as consistently and reliably so... :shh

x 2

I was one of those critical last week, said at the game the goals will hide the lack of intensity,  pressure
