Out:   Hunt, Hampson, C.Ellis, Grimes (inj)
In:  Lennon, Maric (if fit), Edwards (if fit), Batchelor.

I have been a big supporter of Griff but he was horrible this week after just being Ok last week. He stays in the side only because from the sound of the VFL reports from yesterday nobody has put up their hand to replace him. So many are in the same boat ,should be dropped but nobody has showed they are up to replace them.

Playing Hampson is like playing a man short around the ground, sure he competed in the ruck well but we get nothing else. That just wont do in todays game. Would be better off playing anybody (except Hunt) and let Vickery/Griff share ruck time. Sure we would get beaten in the ruck but would have the extra man on the ground. As for that last play, you neither go up for the big punch or stay with your man. He did neither. Not the only reason we lost but was one of the many.

Same as last year I think this game was lost at the selection table just as much on the ground. Some things stand out to us simple supporters that for some reason the selectors cant see. Dont get it.
Well said Fluff,
Interested though, don't you think we are going backwards picking Batchelor?
I'd personally be happy to keep C. Ellis in the side as we need to give him exposure at AFL level. He isn't going to learn anything in our VFL side unfortunately.  We need him to get to 50 plus games as quickly as possible.
I don't think we can play Astbury and Batchelor in the same side as they both don't give much offensively, and we need attacking footballers in our backline to be able to give our forwards a chance before the opposition get players back.

Batch is in there purely as a Grimes replacement, the only other option I see is Chaplin as the reports from the VFL (not seen myself) have not really identified a better option. Its ok to say not to play them both but what options are there. Morris ? nah.

I would like to see C.Ellis play more but he just isnt getting into the play for some reason.  Beleive me I want him to stay, I even picked him in my supercoach team as I though he would get plenty of games to improve. Somebody has to go out for Lennon and Edwards and he seems the most likely. I supose you could say the same about getting games into a player for Lennon and Short.
Here , kitty kitty. Here , kitty kitty.   AAAUGH!

Spot on. I like C Ellis but for his sake he needs to get his hands on the pill for a few weeks in the VFL then get him back in. Griffiths is hopeless but will keep playing because we can't afford to put Ty in the ruck with our lack of key forwards.

Hunt played one of the worst games I've seen from an AFL player last night. I can't believe I'm saying it but Morris would have been better.

I think its time we try something different up forward.  Lets play as many small forwards as possible!  Rioli (if fit), Shorty, Titch, Butler & Lennon should all line up with Jack as our sole tall & main target.  Ty goes into the ruck & Griff just goes ... somewhere?  Lets scorch some grass with pace & try to kick goals in general play rather than trying to set up tedious set shots & playing slow static football up forward.  We might get outmarked by taller defenders more than usual, but so what?  There are more ground contests than marking contests every week, lets make the ground contests our strength up forward.  At least we can be dangerous when the ball hits the ground & apply some defensive pressure!

Other sides seem to have easy over the back running into open goals type goals each week, we dont seem to get many at all. Is that down to our style of play or the type of players we have in our forward line?

Style of play, we are very defensively oriented with our set up, hence why we seem to struggle to ever get serious line breaking overlap in our game.

Well given our poor goalkicking we need to change things up because the only way we will score in excess of 100pts is to get goals from within the goal square.

Can't play defensive football when your man is 5 metres away from you. Your forever trying to catch up when turnovers are made. Hence why teams score freely against us. They don't force our mistakes. We create our own mistakes. We are our own wrst nightmare. Then we have a huge forward line which have strong hands but instead of bombing it long we over use the ball trying to get that lead & mark set on goal. Long direct football to high marking forwards win games all the time Griffiths won't learn anything being over 200cm & not leaping the pack to take a strong mark. His a danger to himself thats why he has head gear.  :snidegrin  If Richmond use their height & had the ball coming in long & direct we would kick 25 goals a week l reckon. We run out of clock over using the ball with 10 possies over 50 metres & sideways when 1 kick to 200cm if a better option. But then if you take the ball backwards 80 metres & turn it over then you will lose every time. Who coaches that type of poo.

No ones blaming him, but he was extremely poor and needs to learn some of those efforts were not acceptable.

With Betts in the opposition, London to a brick Morris comes back in.

C.Ellis having his first real shocker is the least of our concerns....if he get's dropped "to learn about acceptable efforts" , then so should Hunt, Griffiths, Grigg, Lloyd, Vickery, Townsend & B.Ellis at the very least....

Walker, Betts, Lynch, Jenkins & McGovern all dominating in the forward line  against Port.

It could be a blood bath next Saturday folks.  :help
