The weak draft argument is pathetic.

No one forced Richmond to recruit every mature aged dud they could find and play them at the expense of our youngsters.  That was a strategy they chose and one they need to be removed for.

So, same old, same old.
DIMMA - You will be held ACCOUNTABLE...

“We are really excited about what we have brought in. We have got great depth of players that can take us where we need to go. We are just putting some cream on the top at the moment,” he said.

IF .... the Tigers don't make flawless list decisions from here ...

THEN .... yet more, and possibly greater, pain lies ahead. List is a mess and seemingly Hardwick, who has influenced its content, is the only person who doesn't see it that way.

Just another chicken little. The sky isn't falling we have a middling list it's time to improve it not rebuild it from scratch.

No.

Middling sides with middling lists either make up the numbers/ get destroyed in finals or are competative to make finals but fall slightly short.

We were a middling side in in the last 3 seasons but are now not even that. 13th by the end of this round.

The weak draft argument is pathetic.

No one forced Richmond to recruit every mature aged dud they could find and play them at the expense of our youngsters.  That was a strategy they chose and one they need to be removed for.

GWS and GCS drafts provided unprecedented opportunities for recruiting departments.
Those clubs were never going to be able to keep the talent they had coming into their clubs.  They even traded out quality youngsters for mature age recruits to balance out their lists.

The strategy should have been to poach as many top end youngsters from GWS and GCS as possible while looking for trade opportunities of quality mature age players from struggling clubs.  There has been a massive movement of talent over the last five years or so and all Richmond has managed to attract are VFL level duds who they will have to replace again in two years time.

And what were we going to trade for them pray tell?  The top picks everyone demanded we hold onto or the stuffing duds nobody wanted?  Other teams had depth and talent to work with we were bottom of the ladder and had been for ages, nobody wanted our poo when they could get decent players and picks.  We didn't have picks because those pricks had em all.  We were one of the most compromised clubs in the AFL when they brought those two new franchises in, the AFL knew it and there was talk about it and compensation.  We decided to be too proud because of public perception and allowed ourselves to be set up for another decade of failure.  If you cannot see that and did not see it coming I don't know what to tell you.  We were stuffed from the outset and any compensation would not of made much difference.  We need to game the system like every other club.  Bottom out, trade like whores, sell our soul, hock our arses.  The consequence might be success but then a lot of us will just walk away from the game I spose.  It is already looking like a game of stuffing monopoly rather than a sport.

Great post there have been so many opportunities to build a strong list under hardwick and invariably we have spurned those opportunities. An awful lot of those opportunities could have been done fairly cheap as well.

Name one area of the footy club where quality and depth in any area has dramatically improved under Hardwick.

How do you get quality mature agreed players from struggling clubs without paying overs given your 6 million in debt?
If you were going to get mature quality players you were competing with GC and GWS who took all the retirees for 4 years because they had a huge pile of underpaid kids.

Part B of your strategy was  almost impossible. We did miss out on Collingwood retiree Leon Davis but everybody here poo pooed that one. At least he could kick.
