Trent Cotchin hopes to play for Richmond against Sydney

Richmond captain Trent Cotchin is hopeful of returning for Saturday night's MCG clash with Sydney, but says his availability for the match will be guided by a meeting on Monday.

Cotchin missed the Tigers' loss to Hawthorn on Friday night after breaking his cheekbone in the round six loss to Port Adelaide.

The gun midfielder should be assessed early in the week, but when asked on Sunday whether he would play against the Swans, Cotchin said "I'd like to think yes, but it will be in the surgeon’s hands. I will meet him (on Monday)".

Richmond should in any case regain key defender Alex Rance in time to face Coleman Medal leader Lance Franklin. Rance was suspended for the matches against Power and the Hawks.

Surgeon would normally say don't play but we don't know how stable the fracture is with the plate/s on.....
OER. Calling it as it is since 2004.

No Plates? That would be highly unusual for cheekbone fractures. Especially in athletes that want to get back on the field asap.

I hope Cotch doesn't play.
Don't risk it, give it another week, keep Vlas in the guts, put in McBean (CHF/CHB/Ruck switch with Vickery and by CHB CHF switch they are to interchange throughout the game), Lennon (Fwd Pocket not back line)
Drop Morris and Batch. (Batch will be covered by the switch)
Drop anyone who cant kick a 35m spear pass
Play on at every opportunity, play man on man, use the middle corridor, prepare for front and square disposal at every drop.
Create a contest have 2 players crumbing at every contest opportunity one on each side, Create movement and passing opportunities, play like you mean it and have passion.
Have a players only team meeting during the week, work out a game plan amongst the players without Hardwick, ignore what Hardwick and runners say during the game, don't come off the ground if you are on a hot streak, if we win the toss kick with the wind.
If we are 50 points up with 1 minute to go play defensively.
If you are 2 goals up with 5 minutes to go attack attack attack.
I know this is way off what we do so maybe it is too radical an approach?

Dimma will call off the game MOL. With only three players on the field it will be no contest! :lol
