When Thompson blindsided the club by quitting for Essendon it was Balme who called the players and coaches together and assured them they were capable of another premiership and that Geelong would find them a coach capable of delivering that.

What's funny? Geelong won the following year

I really hope Neil gives Dimma, Benny etc some home truths about what the opposition really think of them.
He's recently come from both Collingwood and Geelong and been involved in the all the important footy dept decisions. Both teams have had no fear or respect for us for years so I'm sure he'll have some valuable discussions about where he thinks we are.

Not a doubt in my mind Balmey will be doing that

Balme interview on the RFC website:

“You tend not to allow yourself to dream about these things, but it’s fantastic,” Balme told ‘Roar Vision’.

“Obviously, having played here for so long – a fair while ago now . . . when you play at a place, you’re really involved and you’re really very engaged with the place.

“So there’s a lot of Richmond in me, which I sort of had to push to the side a bit, when I was working at other places.

“But it’s great to be back.  It does feel like a homecoming, there’s no doubt about that . . .

“It’s great that the Club has shown some faith in me that I can help us get to a position that we want to get to.

“I’m sure that’ll be the case.”

Balme believes the Tigers can bounce back strongly from their disappointing 2016 season, provided they stringently stick to a tried-and-true formula . . .

“I don’t think we’re that far away from getting that back on track, but it will take a really conscious effort from all the coaches and all of us – the staff and the people around the Club.  But more so the players to say, okay, let’s get positive, let’s play our game, let’s believe in what we do . . .

“When you do that, the sky’s the limit, really.

“So that’s where we are.

“It’s really trying to make sure that we provide that environment where there’s a lot of belief, they work well together, and it’s all team-first . . .

“All those things we’ve heard a million times, but they’re the things that drive success in this game.”

Sounds like he thinks the list is just fine and does he mean sticking with our "tried and true formula" or bringing in tried and true formulas from successful clubs? You'd hope it's the latter...

Me too.

All I read was more of the same attitude.

How can we "bounce back" next year ?
Bounce back to where - scraping into finals and exiting religiously, week one?
Back. Thorough Dimmer's game plan (so far just one new coach)?
Bounce back with that s h it list and no leadership?
Blame speaks as though we were top four team?

To me, Rance say g at the B&F, how it was hard ,watching teams that th eTigers were better than, playing in finals this year.

They have their heads firmly planted up their arses....and he's our most likely successor to the captaincy.

This is no good

Caracella and Balmey.

NO offence to you guys, but I think an experienced football administrators opinion has a little more value than some people on a footy forum.

we wanted an outsiders opinion/ideas and thats what we have..but because he isn't saying "the list is stuffed, needs a rebuild" now he is bad?

he said changes need to happen, Dimma isn't making all the decisions regarding assistants either which is a good thing.

He knows what he is talking about.
