Interesting to here Geelong doctor Chris Brayshaw will always take the risk and allow footballers to play if they can rather than be cautious and rest them for a week. The reasoning that if you're too cautious you panic in your decision making out of fear of a bloke possibly doing an injury. He'd rather live with his decisions so you always make decisive decisions. Seems to be the way AFL clubs think in regards to sore players.

Tigermonk...what if Wallace is playing fox...they put their weaker defender on him and Richo is fine...and plays a blinder like he did on Kepler Bradley a couple of years ago....

Now you just dont know do you...Richo looked ok to me running the length of the G last week...what do you do if your an opposition coach...play a weaker guy on him...and get cut up...or waste your best defender cos Richo is injured and cant cut you up...hmmmm

Foxxy on the run I say....

MightyTiges...thanks for the Channel 10 training report...much appreciated...

Fact is l do know his injured cause he limps around after the games & does little training
what you say dont make any sence

Oh & Richo & Simmonds are playing with injections thats why they get through games & can run the length of the MCG
but l can tell you his very sore during the week right upto gameday then some more injections ;D

Training today was as usual at Punt Rd. Fine conditions but with a strong breeze. Initially it was a closed session with gates locked but they were opened once the Melbourne spy who was peeping through the gate left lol. Doug Vickery was giving every stranger the once over lol. It makes no sense anyway as you can see everything from Punt Rd.

As mentioned in the other thread, there was a squad of roughly 30. Newy, Lids, Simmo, Polak, Browny, Jack, Cotch, Edwards, Joel, Jordie, Polo, Petts, McGuane, Rance, Morton, Tuck, Jackson, Schulz, Patto, JON, Tambo, Hyde, Tivs, Cleve, Whitey, Moore, Foley and Howat did the full training session. All were wearing different numbers to usual again.

Richo didn't train with the main group. Just did some 100m straight jogging and some kick to kick. He looked to be pulling up better today.

Thursty and Sugar ran some laps and did some kick to kick.

No sign of Kingy.

Cogs did about the first half of main training. I thought there was a problem at first when he stopped as he went over to the physio but he then went and did his own thing. A few half laps around the boundary, some kick to kick, and repetitively collecting the ball off the group with a trainer pressuring him.

In terms of training itself after the gates were opened they did nothing out of the norm apart from using a younger forward line (still with the same set-ups) - Jack vs Rance, Hughes/Patto vs McGuane/Schulz, Lids vs JON. Browny, Morton and Whitey were also used as forwards. Newy was their opponent. Simmo vs Patto were given a free license to push inside 50. The forward half of the field was left open for the forwards and the mids/half-backs (everyone else in two rotating groups) ran and linked as full pace and then spotted leads inside 50. Polly played as a rebounding defender btw. Neither Joel or Petts were used as forwards or HFFers which is meant to be their role these days.

After all the footy drills they put on their tackle tops and did some 1-on-1 tacking with one player running towards the tackler. McRae told the defender not to stay to far off the oncoming attacker. The defender to corral initially to corner the attacker and then go in to tackle.

As per usual - any question just fire away.

MT well done once again. Great report.

Now I'm looking for clues who will likely play this week so....

Do you believe Bowden and Petts were excluded from the forward drills because they will be excluded from the team this week?  :pray

Was Hughes right in the mix?

What do you think the likelihood of Rance gaining a jumper this week?

Was Angus and Carledge rucking?

Sorry Stripes I'm a bit late answering some of those with Petts out and Cleve overlooked.

Joel I think will get one more chance. I think we should go all kids but I've got a feeling Plough and co. didn't think his effort was in the Tivs/Petts shocker category.

Gus and Cartledge didn't train with Richmond (they could've trained earlier as sometimes the RFC players at Coburg train before Richmond does. Cartledge and Connors were around the place in their casuals.

Rance I'll leave to the other thread.

MT whats the story on Cogs training
Cogs did about the first half of main training on Thursday then did his own thing after talking to one of the physios. A few half laps (200m) around the boundary, some kick to kick, and then repetitively collecting the footy off the group with a trainer slightly physically pressuring him as he picked up the ball.

Thats says to me he's still feeling that hammy and decided to slow it down.

Not a good sign.  Sad such a player that imo had not reached the top of his game has been absolutely mowed down like he has.  Doesn't look like he'll ever be the same or near it.  :-\ :( :-\ :( :-\

If Cogs doesn't train with the main squad at all this week then we'll know why  :(. Let's hope that's not the case.

well thats some good news, l dont want to see him rushed back,  in fact l would like to see him rested for the remainder of the season & have a good pre-season with a chance of playing round 1.
l dont see any point in pushing him when his contracted for 2009 anyway

Training today was at an overcast Punt Rd Oval. With a 6 day break they didn't train long. Perhaps around an hour although a few stayed out for longer.

In rehab were Johnson, Thursty, Kingy and Jackson. Not sure what's wrong with Jacko or if he's just sore and being rested. Apparently Richo's copped a few bruises as well as carrying that knee but he'll play this week. No sign of Cogs. Rainesy and Meyer trained fully. It looked like Geoff Raines was watching training too.

Training was short so they didn't do much apart from the usual kicking and handball drills. No "half-time" break like Adelaide did from what I saw. The only thing that stood out was Tambo taking the kicks from inside defensive 50 as they worked on defensive clearances so he may play in defence again this week.

After training a few stayed out. The rucks were with Monkhurst. Schulz was doing goalkicking practice. Cleve and Gus were doing a few 100m runs. Connors was doing some contesting marking and Cotchin worked on ball skills.
