With the injuries to Edwards an Griff and the unavailability of Bolton I'm tipping Miles and Maric will come in. I would have liked  Soldo and Bolton/Cellis though.

In the Mix - Round 3

RICHMOND

It's a three-way race to replace Ben Griffiths (concussion), with Mabior Chol, Ivan Soldo and Todd Elton competing for the tall forward spot. The trio were lined up for goalkicking and marking drills on Tuesday as they battle for selection. Chol suffered a head knock last Thursday but he completed a full session on Tuesday and is the front-runner after the more impressive pre-season. Soldo has reasonable recent form and will be strongly considered, with Elton the wildcard after four games in five seasons.

There will be at least one other change, to replace Shane Edwards (hip), with Kamdyn McIntosh a strong chance to earn an immediate recall after an impressive VFL hit-out. Anthony Miles is also pushing hard, but McIntosh's run gives him an advantage at selection this week. Miles is next in line on the slim chance Dustin Martin doesn't play with a fractured cheekbone.

Young tall Mabior Chol, who suffered a head knock in a VFL practice match last Thursday, completed the full session with the main group.

The exciting 20-year-old is a contender to replace injured forward Ben Griffiths against West Coast and faces a fitness test later this week.

would like to see 4   changes would like to see more but that would be unrealistic just as 4 probably is.

Chol fwd/ruck for Griffiths. Elton kpf for Lennon, Miles for Edwards McIntosh for Lambert.A line up something like this

B: Grimes - Astbury - Short
HB: Vlastuin - Rance - McIntosh

C: Rioli - Martin - Grigg
R: Nankervis - Cotchin - Prestia

HF: Butler - Elton - Castagna
F:  Caddy - Riewoldt - Chol

INT: Miles - Houli - Ellis - Conca.

I am not particularly a fan but I think it is harsh to drop Lennon, claw.

Agree with the changes except Elton for Lennon. What do you base that on? Lennon played one of his better games for the club so I think he deserves another gig (would still need to improve) and Elton has done squat. Did kick a few in a praccy game couple weeks ago but that's just about it

I think a smaller forward line would worry the Eagles so would make these changes:

Out Griffiths Edwards
In Miles, Lloyd

Id love Chol to be ready. BUT based on him huffing and puffing in the preseason game vs Collingwood  i suspect they wont name him.

Forward pressure is everything. Even our Jack is highly rated for tackles in F50.

People dont like to hear it but bUTLER cASTAGNA rIOLI AND Lennon just did not get enough ball..

Personally im always advocating we go with three tall fwds if they were all up to speed and all showed they could play well at the level, my preference has been to see riewoldt and chol, moore being given games.

Lennon is not quick and while it has improved his defensive work is still not great and he is not a threat in the air.9 disposal game which has been the norm when he plays is not good enough you could probably live with it if he supplied the manic pressure the other three do but he doesnt. Simply put im advoacting a structural changee a tall for a medium. that is because hes the only option atm elton for Lennon. you still have the three very quick smalls but add imo needed marking power.
If we want to go taller in the fwd line who do people suggest should be dropped.

I would agree if we had decent talls, but we don't. I think the club has finally realised that and gone a different option. Play small, bring the ball to ground, tackle and create pressure/turnovers.

Agree, no use having a whinge at small players not getting enough ball when the tall players will get even less ball and for the double whammy not lay enough (any) pressure on
