Did anyone from any of the coteries ask the club about the VFLW program?

We are an embarrassment.

I'm not in a coterie but I did ask at the Club XIII season launch the other week what was going on.

No VFLW affiliation in 2025. As the 2 comps (AFLW & VFLW) don't really overlap (align) then not having involvement this year isn't going to impact on the women's program. Said that due to the 2 comps not being aligned our AFLW players rarely played VFLW. If they did it was maximum of 2 games

They will review it again in 2026
So the other clubs don't have players on their list playing in the VFLW? It isn't a development opportunity for the club?
The club that keeps giving.

Ins: Aoibhin (pronounced Aay-vin) Cleary (Ireland), Montana Beruldsen (Sydney), Sierra Grieves, Zoe Hargreaves, Paige Scott (draft)

Outs: Tamara Luke (retired), Imogen Brown (Sydney), Eilish Sheerin (North Melbourne), Molly Eastman, Courtney Jones, Amelia Peck, Stella Reid, Jemima Woods (delisted)

Fairly significant turnover at Punt Road, after Richmond crashed out in an elimination final.

Sheerin will be a huge loss, with classy draftee midfielder Grieves not quite at her size or strength as a replacement, although Scott can roll through the middle.

The delisted players rarely featured in 2024, Eastman the most unlucky of the quintet, having been an emergency on 10 occasions throughout the season, following 10 games the year prior.

The Tigers will regain Montana McKinnon after a torn ACL, replacing Luke, while they managed to hang onto want-away goalsneak Emelia Yassir after a deal with Essendon fell through, signing her to a one-year deal.

AFLW Tigers sign Brazzale

Richmond has signed experienced AFLW defender/wing Lauren Brazzale to its AFLW list for the upcoming season.

Brazzale joins the Club after 73 AFLW games across all nine seasons of the AFLW competition.

The 31-year-old was drafted at selection No. 62 to Carlton in the inaugural AFLW Draft and spent time with Sarah Hosking and Grace Egan in her six years at the Blues.

Brazzale switched to Collingwood ahead of Season 7, where she played 32 of a possible 32 matches in the past three years before being delisted at the conclusion of last season.

The experienced dasher had 18 disposals, and 319 metres gained in Collingwood’s final round clash against Melbourne and 16 touches a fortnight prior against Adelaide.

Richmond AFLW List Manager, Trent Mosbey, said that Brazzale had also made an impressive start to the 2025 VFLW season with Sandringham and as vice-captain for Victoria against South Australia in the Gather Round weekend.

“Lauren’s strength is providing dash and rebound off half back,” Mosbey said.

“She can also penetrate the game with her athleticism, and her accurate kicking can open the game up.

“Lauren has displayed Richmond character traits on and off the field and is highly regarded for her positive, bright energy, leadership, work ethic, professionalism, and strong desire to achieve.

“She is an experienced, versatile player with an elite kick and speed. She plays an eye-catching style that Tigers fans will love to see.

“We are excited to be bringing Lauren to the Swinburne Centre.”

Richmond draftee Zoe Hargreaves will unfortunately miss the 2025 AFLW season through injury.

The 18-year-old injured her left knee during a recent voluntary training session with scans subsequently revealing a ruptured ACL.

Hargreaves will require a knee reconstruction, likely ruling her out for around 12 months.

THE NAB AFLW competition is returning to the Top End, with the second Darwin edition of the Dreamtime match between Essendon and Richmond to be played this year.

The AFL has confirmed Indigenous Round will be held across rounds three and four, with round three coinciding with the AFL men's pre-finals bye round.

The Dreamtime match itself will be played in round three (weekend commencing Friday, August 29) at TIO Stadium.

AFLW Coaches locked in for 2025

Richmond AFLW has locked in their coaching line-up for the 2025 season.

By Richmond Media

Richmond has finalised its coaching structure for the 2025 AFLW season, with Chris Muratore elevated to backs line coach, and retiree Tamara Luke re-joining the Club.

Muratore has been the backs line coach for Richmond’s VFL Men’s team for the past two seasons and was also a part of the Club’s AFLW coaching set up in 2024, assisting former back line coach Nathan Chapman.

The former Parkside premiership-winning coach helped lift Parkside from Division 3 of the Western Region Football League to Division 1, initially as a playing assistant coach across 2017-18 and then as senior coach from 2019-23.

Muratore has also been an assistant coach at VFL Men’s team Northern Bullants.

Luke returns to Richmond as a development coach, her first foray into coaching at AFLW level after she announced her playing retirement in November.

The forward/ruck played seven matches for Richmond in 2024, including the elimination final, adding to her 15 games at Hawthorn and St Kilda across four seasons.

Richmond Head of Women’s Football, Kate Sheahan said that both Muratore and Luke were popular appointments among the playing group.

“Both Chris and Tamara are familiar faces around the program and were excellent candidates for these roles across our extensive interview process,” she said.

“Chris has a great understanding of our players and program has great coaching experience and a passion for Women’s Football.

“Tam has also impressed us with her adaptation into coaching and deep understanding of elite sport, in particular her passion for the development space.”

Richmond 2025 AFLW Coaching Structure

Ryan Ferguson (Senior Coach)
Chris Muratore (Line Coach- Backs)
Shaun Hampson (Line Coach- Midfield)
Emma Grant (Line Coach- Forwards)
Brendan Fevola (Specialist Coach- Forwards)
Tamara Luke (Development Coach)

Forward Sarah Hosking (significant hamstring injury, Oct '24) is hitting her strength markers in the gym and progressing in her speed work. She is expected to return to team training in the next few weeks. Montana McKinnon (ACL, Aug '24) is tracking to join main training by the middle of pre-season. Katelyn Cox (ACL, Jul '24) is on a similar timeline and finished equal first in the Tigers' six-minute time trial. Tall Shelby Knoll was selected in the supplemental draft in April '23, tearing her ACL in October that year. Was set to play some SANFLW games with West Adelaide over the off-season but picked up a minor hamstring injury, and is now back in team training. Zoe Hargreaves (ACL) is inactive this year.
