The Emelia Yassir-Paige Scott trade is also off.

Scott will return to Essendon on a new contract, but Yassir is considered unlikely to go back to Richmond. At the moment, she appears destined for next Monday night's national draft.

Sheerin departs for first round pick

The Tigers have received current selection No. 18 in exchange for Eilish Sheerin who has departed the Club to join the Kangaroos.

Richmond Head of Women’s Football Kate Sheahan thanked Sheerin for her time at the Club.

“Eilish gave everything of herself when she was with us and for this we are incredibly grateful," Sheahan said.

"She has had a profound impact during her time at Richmond and we appreciate her contribution to our team throughout her three seasons.

"While we are disappointed Eilish is leaving, we are delighted to have improved our draft hand ahead of next week’s draft."

Richmond currently holds selections 10, 18, 34 and 38 at December’s AFLW Draft.

Prez was asked about what is going on with our AFLW side and this current trade period.

O'Rourke - Disappointing to lose players. Nature of the AFLW comp. No long-term contracts. Club is committed to the AFLW program.

Just a waffle of nothing answer.

No long term contracts? Umm no... Conti, McKenzie, Brennan have long term contracts

Sheerin was contracted, so Kate don't say we're "disappointed" she's leaving, you did the trade.  :scream

Hard to argue with knighter here. We are the definition of pretenders which has been obvious for atleast 2 seasons now. List deficiencies as glaring. we should either be trying to lure big time players from other clubs or blow it up and invest in the draft. And no that last part doesn’t mean trade or 2nd/3rd best player for bloody pick 18.

As most know I've been a massive supporter of our women's program from day 1.

But this trade period they've lost me.

Take out the Sheerin trade we know have one of best young players in Yassir wanting out. She wanted to be traded, it fell though and it is being reported she won't be coming back. She'd rather take her chance in next week's draft than come back

That tells me all I need to know

I'll leave it at that

Richmond have made a further change to their AFLW list ahead of today’s second list lodgement, with Stella Reid informed that she will not be offered a contract for the 2025 season.

Tiger Emelia Yassir to stay

The AFLW Trade Period has thrown up one final twist 24 hours after concluding, with Richmond youngster Emelia Yassir now set to stay at Punt Road on a one-year contract but with Paige Scott set to nominate for the Telstra AFLW Draft.

Scott had been tipped to return to Essendon after their trade request to Richmond dramatically fell through on Deadline Day, but after further discussions the forward will now chance their arm in Monday night's national draft.

It's tipped that the Tigers will ultimately select Scott at pick No.31 next week, while it's understood there is no animosity between the player and the Bombers despite disappointment at their decision.

Yassir, who was also involved in the failed trade, was considered unlikely to return to Richmond when her bid to get to Essendon collapsed in the final minutes of Wednesday afternoon's deadline.

However, after fresh talks on Thursday morning, it's now expected that Yassir will extend her stay at the Tigers and pen a short-term deal that will see her return to Punt Road through season 2025.

Yassir faced the option of either returning to Richmond or delisting herself and nominating for next Monday night's national draft, where Essendon would have likely called her name at pick No.29.

However, with uncertainty regarding whether she would make it to the Bombers' selection, Yassir is now expected to accept a revised contract offer to play for the Tigers next season.
