Whilst I am surprised at the decision I think it is the right call for the reasons TazTiger said, her disposal is terrible and she is slow as.

Grieves is a much better version of the same type of player.

Agree Chuck, but as WP said, but I'll go further in saying reckon there is half the side that goes before Grace. Grace isn't playing for North Melbourne but shes good enough to get the footy and where our list is at, simply being miles off it seems a ridiculous decision to cut Grace before 10 others. If there is a heap of other moving ons then fair enough.

Would love to get clarity as to why we aren't facilitating a trade to get some draft currency.

I think that's the main thing that's frustrating me as well, why couldn't she be traded?

yet to see anything official around her being delisted.

Fact is, she cant be delisted until the listblodgement period which will be after the trade period, so chances are if anyone is interested (I doubt it) we will trade

Should just hand back our licence IMO. Give it to a club more invested.

And give it to who exactly?  ::) And please don't say Tassie, they are already guaranteed a licence for season 2027

If you read the article it doesn't say she's been delisted it says she's not going to be offered a new contract

However, any chance the Club had of a trade is now zero because they all know she's not getting a contract. Why trade for anyone when you can get 'em for free  :huh

And I think you'll be surprised... a number of clubs are already interested; that's what I'm hearing  ;D :whistle

I get her disposal is poor at times but that reasoning can be applied to every player on our list. Sometimes it's not just about the onfield ... just sayin

Re your 1st point - I didnt say she was, I quoted a post that did, but regardless not being offered a contract is in fact being delisted but only becomes official @ list lodgement

2nd point - It happens, in fact we just did exactly the same thing with Geelong & Pat Retschko

3rd point - are you saying her off field is good or bad ?

I am saying her off field is excellent, incredibly popular with her teammates. In this diabolical season she's been one that's worked OT to keep the spirit of her team mates up. She's shown great leadership even though she's not appointed leader

As I said sometimes it's not just about the on field...  :whistle

It is my view that to a large degree she's been made a scapegoat for our train wreck of a season. Club wants to make a statement that they're being tough, ruthless etc... but the way they've handled this is really is reflection of our season

there is an opinion piece on HUN website (behind their paywall) saying the call to not offer Grace a contract is the right one but how it's been handled is the real issue. Would love to read it but more to the point who wrote it

You obviously know more about the program than me, but not sure what we have done wrong, told here she isnt getting a contract for 2026 at her "Exit" meeting, how else should it be done ?

Did RFC or Egan camp advise the media ?

I just flat out disagree with the delisting. The team is not a good football list. In fact its atrocious. Simple as that. Take Conti out and it's filled with players who aren't good enough. I may be in minority that thinks Grace is good enough, but she cetrainly at worse belongs on a list, a good list she'd be bottom 6-8 players. Yet a 24yo we get rid of arguably our best player the last 2 games. Makes absolutely no sense to me.

I can see us building a decent list around Conti (Dusty), whilst keeping Grace (Shaun Grigg) and Grace playing a role in a good side. She has age on her side, she's highly marketable, showed decent leadership and really want to be around the place regardless of it being so uncompetetive.

Yet our coach continues to jog on his merry way with a contract extension with some of the most unwatchable dumb football possible. We are the Essendon of AFLW. Laughing stock making decisions whilst everyone is laughing at us, and its inindefensible.

Thank god the season is over and the Mens draft is round the corner.

The thing is we have a much better player who is the same type of player (but better) who isnt getting midfield game because of Grace, she is one of the slowest and poorest disposers in the team

I'm assuming your talking about Grieves Chuck? Isn't that on the coach rather than on Grace

Hell he even played the incredibly selfish Paige Scott in the midfield before Grieves.

It get your point but I think TL has summed it up really well. We need depth players and I will say it over and over there are at least 4-6 who should go before Grace

Did RFC or Egan camp advise the media ?

Bloody good question

But the fact the media have got hold of it and are having a field day with it and all we've got from the Club is cricket is the reason they've handled it abysmally

But then again months after re-signing the coach the club still haven't announced that

So crickets seems to be the way in 2025
