Richmond coach Damien Hardwick is telling his players to embrace what they have rather than worry about who is missing from the team.

“He told us to just be excited and embrace who’s out there,” acting Tigers’ captain, Shane Edwards, told RSN 927’s The Breakfast Club.

The coach also encouraged his players “to bring as much energy as they can” against Port Adelaide at the Adelaide Oval.

Edwards said the result was the best home- and-away win he had been involved in since joining the club.

Richmond was without Dustin Martin, Alex Rance, Jack Riewoldt and Trent Cotchin on the weekend but still had a memorable win.

First gamer, Jack Ross, was superb against the Power.

“He’s a ‘manchild’. He’s built for the contest. He has a great game all round,” Edwards said.

“He’s only 18 but he played like he’s been around for a long time.”

Dylan Grimes also had been sensational in the last quarter going for intercept marks and backing himself against Port’s Robbie Gray, “one of the scariest” match-ups in the game.

Edwards also said boom recruit Tom Lynch’s start to the season had been amazing. “He’s come in just seamlessly, like he’s been at the club for 10 years.

“What he has been able to do so far off the back of virtually no pre-season has been amazing.”
