Not having seen the comments....I think he's just saying that going into finals us and the Dogs weren't the best side. Which is correct. But it's all about who IS the best in finals...which in 2016 was the Dogs & in 2017 it was us :shh

So I don't really get the point he's trying to make as no one gives a flying stuff about any team from any specific year except the premiers

We were the most consistent side last year (and this year), we lost the close ones last year which we won this year which basically is the difference in the win/loss columns.
The reality in football right now is that consistency of effort is key, dominating the comp is no longer possible. I believe our mindfulness program gives us the edge. He’d have more credibility if he balanced his view with this type of comment as it’s become our point of difference
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

Agree AT.
I think he’s saying you don’t have to be the best team over the season to be a premiership threat as Richmond and the bulldogs have done previously. Adelaide was clearly the best team last season but we smashed them and Bulldogs weren’t the best team going in but eventually won the premiership. I think he’s saying this more for his own teams players and supporters to believe anything is possible even considering Geelong has been pretty inconsistent during the season proper.
It’s just that when he speaks it comes across as arrogant and disrespectful.

thats not what he said or meant at all.

"i have to be careful with my words here, but Richmond....and Buldogs werent the best team in the final series""

if it was a one off comment you could discount it, but the the guy has had it in for us for a fair while now hence the cheap shots.

I haven’t seen it myself.
Well if he said we weren’t the best team during the finals series that’s just stupid.
If we weren’t the best team during the finals who was?
I was giving him the benefit of the doubt but if he said that then he’s just kidding himself and I have no idea how he could justify it. Did anyone pull him up in it? Or did Gerard and Blobbo just lick his balls with every word that spewed from his mouth? How could he justify that comment?

Someone should tell Chris Scott that we have a 7% better winning record than the next best in the comp. over the last 50 games (past 2 seasons and a bit).

Richmond  36-14     72%
GWS         31-16-3  65%
Sydney     32-18     64%
WCE         32-18     64%
Geelong    31-18-1  63%
Adelaide    30-19     61%

And despite our woeful 2016, our winning record is better than Geelong over the past 100 games each has played:

Scott was questioned when he declared minor premiers Richmond as "beatable" in the lead-up to their round 20 loss to the Tigers, but repeated his assertion on Sunday.

"I think they are beatable. I still stand by that," he said.

"Will someone beat them? I think they are the odds on favourite.

"I think they are going to be tough to beat. They have clearly been the best team.

"But I think there are there is eight teams in the finals that would think if they don't win a premiership they will be disappointed.

"It is one of those rare years where everyone would think if the cards fall their way they are a good chance."

In other words, he doesn't rate us.

Wouldn't mind seeing the Dees knock em off by 40 odd points.

Prefer they beat Melbourne

We have Geelong covered, but Melbourne on their day are a danger

Just 6 goals in a final and only 3 wins from 12 finals since 2012. What a great coaching effort :rollin.

Can a journo ask Chris Scott how Geelong plans to beat Richmond while on September holidays?  :snidegrin

Thoroughly enjoying their capitulation, even though I definitely would have preferred Geel to win for our sake.
