the way he said " we dont have to change things drastically to beat THEM" reeks of deep hatred for us

well said roosy tonight who at least understands the game when he said Richmond has more upside than geelong. He also said we dominated the game
Just watched the 3rd quarter again. We should have kicked another 4 or 5 in that quarter alone, we were that dominant. We were just playing with them.
Plus they got the Short non free kick and goal.

Roosy stood up for us?  Well if anyone is gonna tell it how it is he is.  Looks Chris Sook should grab a kleenex and wipe the tears of rage off of his stupid looking mine craft block head.

David King didn't miss us either, he took the opportunity to stick the boots in as well with this passage: “I think what he was trying to say, and it didn’t come out that way last night, and it probably does sound a little bit disrespectful on occasion, but what he’s saying is, I’m telling my troops we can beat them,”

“They aren’t unbeatable, they aren’t as dominant as Essendon in 2000 or the Brisbane Lions of the three-peat, or the Cats or the Hawks, they’re not that.

I think when you really have a sensible look at it, he’s right, but you just rarely hear a coach put that on the record after a game.”

Hey King, GAGF.

Personally, I agree with that sentiment, insofar as I'd suggest there isn't that unbeatable aura about us that there was for those other dominant dynasties. But publicly stating that goes against the grain of "footyspeak". Sort of like telling someone to their face that they need to lose weight....

I'd also definitely add that they played as well as they could, particularly in the second half, while we dominated much of the play but fluffed more than a few very gettable chances (see Castagna et al).

Our forward entries were a disgrace. Our forward system fell apart. Players (except Riewoldt) were just waving their arms wanting the ball over the top, if our inside 50s were only marginally better as well as some better leading by the forwards I think we beat them by 10 goals easily.

Scott is bloody kidding Himself.  :lol

Personally I thought Hardwick's comments post match were spot on. We were a bit flat particularly in the last quarter and we did not make the most of our forward entries. It was only belatedly mentioned that our team against Geelong was the weakest team we have put out this year.

This is the real point and why those press conferences and the media in general are the greatest source of fluff.
When has the coach of the 9th ranked team ever spoken so disrespectfully of the reigning premier who also sits as the  top side on the ladder after round 20?
What gives Chris Scott the right to think he can change the conversation from his own basket case of a season to turn up the heat on the $2.50 favourite for the flag?
The real question for Chris Scott is 7 seasons after their last premiership and a record of 2 wins from 9 finals with a topped up list recruiting Ablett and Dangerfield, is this list underperforming?
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

Don't really worry about what Scott says. We still won the game.

We also had FIVE premiership starters out, plus Conca who on form would be a starter as well in place of BEllis or McIntosh.

So just think:
We drop Graham onto Ablett
Prestia onto Selwood
Broad onto Menzell
Conca onto Kelly
Houli as the other rebounding back for either Ellis or McIntosh
Butler in for the out of form Castagna as our most effective small forward.

A few points bro.

Houli - don't agree that he'd come in and automatically be a better option of half back than BEllis. Pretty similar with their attack on the footy...or lack thereof. But as of right now, I think BEllis looks the better option & Houli's looked a bit old and slow. That's probably down to his groin troubles but he's got a bit to do to get anywhere near his previous good form.

Conca onto Kelly - yes, that's probably a better result than what happened last week but I wouldn't pencil in a win for Concs either.

Graham - Ablett probably still gets his 30 odd

Butler - he's not our most effective small forward. Castagna has finally started to kick a few again so I don't see the logic in dropping him for Butler who, to be honest, is one of the most petrified players I've ever seen. And one of the most inconsistent ones.
Have always said if you could merge Butler/Castagna into one player they'd be one hell of a player. But they both have some big deficiencies
