There is a technical legal argument that you can't refute the conviction and the QC of the convicted individual aims to minimise the eventual sentence. But, what a bizarre and sick thing for anyone to say let alone a QC. Since when is any sexual abuse classed as "plain vanilla"!
If you genuinely were innocent you wouldn't admit the crime occurred in any shape or form. You'd simply head to the Court of Appeal.
