RAIN won’t dampen Tigers and Cats fans’ spirits tonight as the teams battle it out at the MCG.
Footygoers should rug up as showers are expected to hang around as they line up and file into the ground before the match starts at 7.50pm.
Sunshine hangs over the city this morning but the heavens will open and there’s even a chance of hail. Melbourne will reach a top of 14C today.
If you’re heading to the MCG early, make sure you pack your brolly—there’s a high chance of rain at 4pm.
But for those grabbing a pie and their seats at 7pm, the rain will ease and the mercury will drop to 11C at 7pm.
It will get colder as the game finishes, dipping to a low of 9C at 10pm.
While for those who want to take the celebrations— or commiserations —into the early morning, the rain will settle while the mercury drops to 7C at 1am.
Bureau of Meteorology senior forecaster Rod Dickson said fans should wear their colours to stay warm, and pack a poncho and a brolly.
Footy fans in the eastern suburbs opting to watch the match on TV will be sheltered from the rain to come across the evening.
