On paper this shapes as reasonable but can we really say 2011 Collingwood was on the same level as 2020 Geelong? Nobody gave Geelong a chance last year. I'd argue the 7 changes in the 2022 side were all crucial in shaping it into a legitimate finals force rather than a team that couldn't hack the real stuff. So yes technically Richmond beat a side that would later become premiers but the consensus is that 2017 Adelaide, 2019 GWS and 2020 Geelong weren't great sides. None of them could cope with Richmond. Whereas in the Geelong triumvirate of premierships Hawthorn and Collingwood stood up, the Bulldogs pushed some much more talented sides to the wire and St Kilda certainly could've nabbed one or two if the ball bounced differently. In a world without Richmond we probably see GWS nab a flag from 7th, Adelaide finally win another premiership (with a worse side than their mid 2000s teams that didn't even make GFs) and universally mocked pretenders Geelong, Port or Brisbane get one. To go with the Doggies fairytale flag from 8th. It's a compliment to say that Richmond were the only strong side in that era who could stand up in finals. 2008-2013 you had multiple teams putting on incredible H&A seasons (18-4 or better) with some underdogs pushing them all the way in finals and even nabbing the odd flag. I just see that as a stronger top 4 collectively.

The reality is that the 17 grand final doesn't even make the top 10 list of traumas experienced by a Crows fan since then. It just doesn't register as pain such is our acquired threshold.

He’s correct. Richmond’s membership base includes a lot of pets and people that live overseas (probably bots anyway).

No brainer. He’s 100% spot on. When Richmond miss out on the 8 this year they will go back to having an empty MCG.

If it was an Adelaide player doing this to a Richmond player it would be 5/6wks, just like last year Cotchin went studs up and kicked Walker over the boundary. Grub club.
