Game over!

19 - 55

 :cheers :cheers :cheers

Good call
Ah yes, was waiting for the cheap shot. We were a rabble in the first half especially that second quarter. Are you disputing that or more likely you didn't watch the game at all and only saw the final score? I admitted post-siren I was wrong as yep I thought we were gone in the second quarter. You missed that too. Credit to our boys for coming back but we pinched that game. We were lucky Geelong were down a couple on the bench in the second half and they missed a late goal from 1m out lol which would've killed us off. Anyway, we dish up that first half again and we won't be so lucky next time.

Is the Forgotten Man aka Kosi any chance to get an AFL opportunity?

I don't rate him but think he is a better forward option than Balta and he's not available next round...something about a curfew ::)

If we are honest he would have been a better option than Faull or Sims all year  but the need to get games into kids and not exactly him tearing the door down  has meant no senior games. Every time Lynch has not played imo he probably should have played.

Have  previously  asked the question at what point with so little ball do we  do more harm than good to Faull and Sims there has to be a point where it is better to send them back to the magoos for some ball  form and confidence.

Richmond VFL defeat Cats in a thriller

The VFL Tigers finished brilliantly against Geelong, kicking seven of the last nine goals to storm home to victory.

Richmond defeated Geelong at GMHBA Stadium by five points on Sunday, in a thrilling come-from-behind victory.

The Tigers were down by as many as 37 points before turning it around, with Harry Scott the hero.

Both teams found their offensive flow early in the game, with the Tigers kicking early goals through Steely Green and Lachlan Wilson.

Their momentum was halted after that as the Cats dominated territory, regularly playing on quickly to generate good looks ahead of the ball.

Geelong kicked the final three goals of the first quarter helping give them a 16-point lead at quarter-time.

It was much of the same after the break as the Cats transition game made things difficult for the Tigers, with young Geelong key forward Jay Polkinghorne the beneficiary of some swift ball movement.

The Cats managed to stretch the lead out to five goals approaching time on.

It was crucial for Richmond to hit the scoreboard approaching half-time, and they were able to late, through Jacob Bauer and Taj Hotton.

This cut the margin back to four goals at the main break, breathing life into the game for what looked like a down and out Richmond outfit only minutes earlier.

The Tigers got off to the perfect start after the break with Green kicking his second, but Geelong responded with a goal to Jamieson Ballantyne and then another from ruckman Joe Pike.

Richmond continued to hang around though with back-to-back goals from Mohammed Yassine and Massimo Raso, followed by a late goal to Jacob Koschitzke to cut the margin to 18 points at the final break.

Despite trailing for most of the match, Richmond refused to lie down, starting the quarter in scintillating fashion with three quick goals.

The last of them from Green tied the scores just 10 minutes into the term, but with all the play against them, Keighton Matofai-Forbes managed to slot one to give the Cats back the lead.

But, Richmond vice-captain Joel Garner pushed forward soon after, taking a big grab and slotting the set shot to keep the Tigers right in it.

With time ticking away Geelong held a one-point lead before a massive run-down tackle by Liam George gave the Tigers the ball on the paint of 50.

He popped the kick over to Scott, who then slotted a brilliant goal from the boundary with just 11 seconds left, to give Richmond the lead for the first time since early on in the game.

Geelong won the following centre clearance and blasted inside 50, but Tylar Young pulled down a game-saving mark as Richmond produced a win for the ages, after being down by 37 points late in the second quarter.

Jayden Short was brilliant on return from a calf injury, registering 27 disposals and 14 marks, while Scott was the hero and finished with 26 disposals, 10 tackles and the winning goal.

Green also helped spark the comeback, kicking three goals and providing great pressure inside-50, while Hotton displayed his immense talent once again with 23 disposals and a goal. Josh Gibcus also made a successful comeback, after more than 15 months out of the game with injury.

Bauer left the game with a suspected ACL injury.

The Tigers will now look ahead to next Saturday's clash against Southport at Kinetic Stadium.

Player by player VFL report: Round 15

Here’s how coach Jake Batchelor assessed the performance of each player.

Jayden Short (29 disposals, 14 marks, four tackles)
“Provided great leadership coming back to VFL for the first time in many years, he used the ball really well and organised our stoppage structures really well.”

Kaleb Smith (25 disposals, nine marks, five intercept possessions)
“He's managing to find the ball a little bit more the last couple of weeks and his run, his drive and his ability to try and step through tackles has been noticeable.”

Taj Hotton (24 disposals, eight tackles, five clearances, one goal)
“Another improved performance as a high half-forward, he had a great opportunity to get in some centre bounces and get some clearances for us. He finished with plenty of tackles as well.”

James Trezise (24 disposals, eight marks, 96% disposal efficiency)
“Played a mixture of wing and half-back, his contest work was elite. He’s improving on his defensive awareness and best position knowledge.”

Tylar Young (16 disposals, seven marks, six intercept possessions)
“Great performance, was a little bit sticky on his opponent but that is what the game gave us versus some detached forwards. His contest work was great and he had great composure in the last quarter to take the match-saving mark.”

Jacob Koschitzke (13 disposals, two marks, one goal)
“Played his role down back for us and then we required a key forward in the second half. His ability to compete and bring the ball to ground and maximise his opportunities inside 50 was great. Great to see him get on the scoreboard and I dare say without Kozi up forward, we potentially don’t get the result.”

Steely Green (12 disposals, six marks, three goals)
“Good to have him back in the VFL this week, hit the scoreboard really well. He chased, defended really hard and his effort and intent was outstanding. Great to see him get some scoreboard reward.”

Oliver Hayes-Brown (11 disposals, 30 hit-outs, three clearances)
“He had a great battle with the opposition ruck, his ability to win the ball in the contest was strong. There were a few running patterns that they challenged him with from their ruckman, however I think Ollie dug his heels in and his effort was tremendous.”

Josh Gibcus (four disposals, two marks, one tackle)
“Great to see him get through, he’s a much-loved figure at our football club, he showed some of his strengths in the aerial contests and looked really safe when he was around the ball.”

Jacob Bauer suffered an ACL injury in the third quarter. He had kicked a goal and taken four marks to that point in the match.
