Markov's partnership with Menadue off half back was outstanding. :clapping
OER. Calling it as it is since 2004.

Shai Bolton didn't finish the game after he suffered a "cork on a cork" on his thigh in the third quarter.

The small forward is believed to have escaped more significant damage but will be assessed this week.

VFL Midfield and Development coach, Xavier Clarke's summary of how the Tigers’ players performed in last Saturday’s Round 7 win over Sandringham at Holm Park Recreational Reserve.

Anthony Miles

25 disposals, five clearances, five inside-50s and one goal

“Had another pretty good game, playing a different role at this stage, playing as a mid and forward as well. Didn’t have his usual 40-odd possessions, but I thought he had really good balance throughout the whole game. Kicked one goal and looked really dangerous through the midfield.”

Brandon Ellis

23 disposals, 13 handball receives, four rebound-50s and three inside-50s

“Played another good game in the VFL. He played a bit of wing as well, looked solid in defence and also down back. He looked strong and like an AFL player.”

Oleg Markov

23 disposals, six marks, five rebound-50s and three inside-50s

“In his first game back he looked fantastic off half-back, his run-and-carry and his breaking the lines was a feature of his game. It was pleasing to have him back there.”

Connor Menadue

23 disposals, six marks, seven rebound-50s and four inside-50s

“His defensive work was really good and his run-and-carry and his ball use off half-back was really a highlight of his game. His speed and breaking the lines was very good.”

Corey Ellis

20 disposals, six marks, nine handball receives, three inside-50s and one goal

“He played mid(field) the whole game and was dominant around the ground. His ability to use the ball when it’s in his hands is very good. He’s starting to put together some consistent performances together at VFL level.”

Liam Baker

20 disposals, six marks, three clearances and five inside-50s

“He’s playing really consistent footy at VFL level and he’s playing the ‘Richmond Way’. His work-rate up-and-down the ground is certainly his biggest strength. He’s starting to get his hands on the footy as well.”

Tyson Stengle

16 disposals, 12 contested possessions, four tackles, five clearances and one goal

”He was very good. He kicked one goal, when he could have had three, but he set-up two (goals). He’s really good at setting his players up. He’s hard to tackle, but his work-rate was outstanding for the whole game. It was really pleasing to see him have a good game and he’s playing really consistent footy at VFL level.”

Patrick Naish

16 disposals, three tackles, eight handball receives and three inside-50s

“He’s been playing half-back over the last few weeks, and he’s been good, he’s been consistent. His defensive work is something he’s really been working on and it’s pleasing to see that it’s been the biggest improvement in his game. We know he uses the ball well when he gets it in his hands.”

Callum Moore

15 disposals, two goals, six marks and four tackles

“He was fantastic. He had some really nice jumps at the footy. When he gets a nice free run-and-jump at the footy, he can take a really nice contested mark. He finished the game with 2.3 and he was really dangerous around the ground with his speed once he hits the ground.”

Mabior Chol

12 disposals, five marks, two goals and five tackles

“He was good again up-forward. He spent a little bit of time in at centre bounce, and finished the game with two goals. His marking is a feature of his game, he finished the game with five marks and also his five tackles is really pleasing to see.”

Ivan Soldo

12 disposals, 18 hit-outs and five tackles

“He had his work cut-out for him against Billy Longer, but I thought he competed really well. I thought Soldo probably got him around the ground a bit more than around centre-square bounce, but he’s playing consistent footy and really starting to learn his craft. He’s developing well as a ruck(man).”

Ryan Garthwaite

Eight disposals, three marks and two tackles

”He was solid again down back. I think he ran 15km, which was unbelievable, so he’s an absolute work-horse. He hardly gets beaten in one-on-one contests and he’s playing really good footy at the moment at VFL level and I’ve got no doubt that he’ll start to put his hand up for senior selection.”

Ben Miller

Eight disposals, three tackles and two marks

“Similarly, ‘Garthy’ and he complement each other. They’ve been pretty good down back for first and second year players. They’re really holding up our backline as talls and ‘Benny’ is starting to build a lot of trust in the backline at the moment. He’s getting a lot of respect throughout the group.”

Shai Bolton

Seven disposals, one goal and one tackle

“He started the game fantastic, he had seven disposals in the first quarter and unfortunately it stopped there. He got a knock on an existing cork, early in the second quarter and took no further part in the game.”

Daniel Rioli

Three disposals, one mark and two inside-50s

“It was great to see Daniel Rioli back out there. He was moving pretty well, only played half a game of footy. He had an opportunity to kick a goal early in the game, but unfortunately just missed. It was pleasing to see him get through, he’s pulled up well and hopefully he plays a bit more game-time this weekend.”

VFL listed players

Tom Silvestro

21 disposals, 13 handball receives, five tackles and six marks

”He just keeps producing for us at VFL level. Players at AFL level love having him playing. He just plays his role for us. He cracks in, he runs hard and does everything right.”

Brandon Wood

20 disposals, seven handball receives, five clearances and one goal

“A good game for Brandon, had 20 disposals, went forward and kicked a goal as well. He’s just a stoppage ‘beast’. He’s hard to move around stoppages and is also very good when he gets his hands on the ball.”

Blake Grewar

16 disposals, two goals, six tackles and five clearances

“He finished the game with two goals, but he spent more time in the midfield this week. We love what he brings to the VFL. An ex-Brisbane Lions rookie, he brings a lot of grunt and tackle pressure around the footy, finishing the game with six tackles which was a high for us. He’s definitely a ‘beast’ inside the stoppage.”

James Fletcher

16 disposals, nine handball receives and two tackles

“He’s been fantastic across half-back. He’s been great since he came into the side last week, two games in a row now. He’s got great speed, he sees the game well and defends well. He fits in really well with our backline and adds to our defence.”

Shaun Mannagh

14 disposals, six handball receives and three inside-50s

“He was good again on the wing. Very similar to (Tom) Silvestro, he had a lot of speed in the game on the outside for us. He’s playing his role.”

Harry Tanner

13 disposals, four marks, one goal and three inside-50s

“His first game back for us this year, he kicked a goal. I thought he was fantastic, his pressure around the forward-line was really good. He’s grown as a player since the last time he played for us and its pleasing to see his development. He came in and enjoyed his game.

Steve Morris

11 disposals, three tackles and three marks

“It was a solid game from him, nothing too fancy, but he just has a crack. He competed in a really heavy contest early, and set the scene for us. That’s what he does, he’s really good in that area.”

Ryan Bathie

Eight disposals, one goal, seven marks and two tackles

“First game for the year for us, his marking contests were fantastic. He makes his opposition defenders really think about where he goes and he’s pretty smart, so it was great to have him in the side and see him get rewarded with a goal.”
