Houli inj Moore . Menadue and Higgins out
Ins .Georgie . Grimes .Stengle and Rioli
Pressure has been down last few weeks so
Rioli might be considered
Jack Graham would need to extract the digit very very soon I reckon
Graham won't be dropped. He is given the shutting down assignment by Dimma each week. He has been good rather than great at it. Opponents have been getting plenty of possessions but they are always under the hammer and rarely do anything destructive with their possessions so he stays. Not many of our players can run with others. Graham can.

Tackling and pressure is great but he’s part of our midfield group so he either needs to find more of the ball or actually shut the down the opposition mid. Sub 10disposals while pressuring an opposition mid all the way to 40 disposals isn’t enough value to hold a midfield spot.

At least the majority of his own disposals are quality ones that open the game. I think you can get too hung up on the numbers without looking at what the disposal actually does. Like when Cotchin was getting a million ring around the rosy possessions versus now getting less overall but they are far more damaging.
Only the coaches know if Graham is doing his job.

I for one thought he was average in game one but was shocked to hear that Graham's game against Carlton was the only time any player has got over 100 pressure points all season from any team.
OER. Calling it as it is since 2004.

Hearing that Jack's a good chance not to get up Saturday night.

If that's the case, thoughts on Chol coming in for him?

From what I saw in the VFL he's looking much closer to it than previously. I'd have him ahead of CCJ and Balta.

Balta for mine if I had a choice....

However, they are too conservative to take a punt like that in a big game IMHO.

Good win by the boys under the circumstances.

Out
Houli
Higgins

In
George
Grimes

Should Jack not get up bring in Soldo and play Nank deep forward.

Moore and Menadue played a role and don't forget it normally takes a few games to adjust from VFL to AFL.

A bit hard on Moore to drop him considering he was our only tall forward . He was double teamed all night and ended up with 14 possessions
We lacked tackle pressure in our forward line against the Saints which will influence if players keep a spot.

IMO,

IN: Rioli, Castanga, Miles, Grimes

OUT: Conca, Graham, Menadue, Higgins

Conca - turns it over

Graham - out of form

Rioli, Castanga, Bulter to apply that tackling pressure I50.

Miles’ last chance to proof he can also have an outside game.

If Jack doesn't come up, then I think Moore stays. But he will need some taller support.

It wouldn't suprise me if we threw Astbury forward and got one of our promising talls (Balta, Miller, Chol) to come in and have a run in defence.

That's what we should be doing anyway.... :shh

Outs: BEllis (kick the bloody thing FORWARD more than 20 metres! it’s not 2016!),
Conca (he is what he is),
Houli (groin),
Broad (has been rubbish the last two weeks)

Ins: Miles (extractor, we need to get more clearances),
Markov (show BEllis how he should play),
Grimes (our backline isn’t complete without him),
Castagna (we need more pressure inside F50)

I dream of a team with Miles and without Conca and BEllis  :rollin

I think Ellis will get another game, especially with Houli out. Don't think Markov has got footy in him since coming back from injury yet.

I would think
INS:
Grimes
Stengle
George

OUTS:
Houli
Higgins
Menadue

Rioli would clearly want to play but they will hold him back and take no chances with him

Agree.
I thought he did pretty good. Competed hard and brought the footy to ground. Presented well and wasn’t lazy. The only knock is that he has a terrible ball drop and that’s why you never know where the ball is going to end up. Three shots at goal was a pretty good return although it would’ve been better if he kicked a couple. He did have a hand in two goals though.
What was pleasing was that he took 6 marks as the only tall inside F50.
I’m not sure what we are expect him to be? He’s no Jack but he did ok, problem is we don’t have two Jack Riewoldts. If he apply more pressure no reason he can’t stay there for a few more games.

Second most frustrating player next to Reece Conca.

.......And softer than marshmallows.

He was good in last years finals but for some reason he’s gone back to his standard fair which is extremely safe. He also is gone into his shell in terms of timidity. Too scared to attack the contest like its his last.

I thought we had seen the last of BEllis after last years finals series but he’s back and the whole team is worse for it. Personally I’d like to see him play wing but if he’s going to shirk contests and kick 20 metre sideways options I’d rather have him play vfl or play in someone else’s team.

Look, I’m not the only one that sees it. The match committee saw it too and the only reason he’s back is because of injuries not form.
