6 July 2018FIRST it was Collective Mind making Adelaide players listen to the Richmond theme song on repeat while blindfolded during its preseason camp.
Now the Crows own shop is stocking beanies in the colours of its grand final conqueror that has left a few puzzled fans a little cold.
As the Crows prepare to return to the scene of their 48-point grand final defeat to take on the Tigers on Friday, the CROWmania shop is advertising the New Era black and gold beanies are back on sale by popular demand at the West Lakes store for $39.99.
A CROWmania shop spokesman pointed out that Richmond is yellow and black, whereas the beanie is black and gold — and it does have Crows written on it and a Crows logo.
The design is from last year, when all clubs had a black and gold beanie for sale and the spokesman said it was selling well.
“But there has been a bit of backlash,” the spokesman said.
The club ordered in between 50 and a 100 of the beanies earlier this week and more than half of them have already been sold.
The baffling colour scheme hasn’t gone unnoticed by some puzzled fans on social media.
The Crows ended its partnership with the mind training consultancy group Collective Mind last month, confirming player division and angst in the wake of the club’s preseason camp on the Gold Coast in January which coach Don Pyke wrote off as a “fail”.
The club revealed as part of the camp, some players were blindfolded and forced to listen to Richmond’s famous club song on a bus trip and asked to share highly personal details.
