C: Shaun Grigg, Trent Cotchin, Kamdyn McIntosh
HF: Kane Lambert, Josh Caddy, Shane Edwards
F: Daniel Rioli, Jack Riewoldt, Jason Castagna
Foll: Toby Nankervis, Dustin Martin, Dion Prestia,
I/C: Nathan Broad, Jack Graham, Jack Higgins, Dan Butler

In: Kane Lambert. Dan Butler.

Williamstown got 3 goals last night due to Markov direct opponent leading him to the ball
Seen enough to say he will get delisted

* Wished the AFL & VFL would speak to each other. [Clearly we're not happy about the 5-day break between VFL & AFL Qualifying Finals].

While I get his angst

Facts are the VFL is an independent competition.

 It isn't the AFL reserves

The VFL have always played their finals on Saturdays and Sundays. I would argue the VFL have accomodated Richmond as best they can under the circumstances = we aren't playing today

And yes I know the AFL funds the VFL comp through AFL Victoria but when the AFL abolished the reserves part of the charter was for the VFL comp to retain a certain level of independence.

It is and remaons a semi professional competition

If people want it changed then the AFL re-introduces a Resevre comp that ALL clubs must compete in.

FFS, the guy is just back from a knee injury. Has shown plenty before that.

This.

“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

I think Lambert and butler will both come in. Butler was moving well and thats the main thing they wouldve been looking at - that and how he pulls up today). If hes pulled up well I have no doubt he'll be straight in

Chris Cavanagh looks at the biggest questions each club must answer heading into finals

Chris Cavanagh,
Herald Sun
September 2, 2018

RICHMOND

WILL THE TIGERS’ FAMED PRESSURE RETURN?

RICHMOND’S method and successful finals campaign last year was all built around pressure, but that pressure has dropped off late in the season. Since Round 17 the Tigers ranked 14th for pressure and lost the pressure count against Western Bulldogs and Essendon in their past two matches — both were victories. Coach Damien Hardwick acknowledged last Wednesday it was a bit of a concern but added his side had “been winning the ball back anyway”. Richmond would want to lift in that area in September, though, if it is to again reach the pinnacle.

WHO ARE THE UNLUCKY OMISSIONS?

IT happens at this time every year but there looks set to be some serious heartbreak on the horizon for a couple of Tigers. With premiership players Kane Lambert and Dan Butler, who are both on the way back from ankle complaints, pushing to return against the Hawks, there are likely to be one or two unlucky players left out. Reece Conca has not done a lot wrong but he could make way for Lambert, while Jack Higgins has been super in playing 18 games on debut this year but may have to make way for Butler. Remarkably, those changes would leave Richmond with 21 premiership players in its side, with Jacob Townsend (ankle) the only one missing and Jayden Short in his place.

Ch 7 news tonight said we had a closed training session today and Lambert trained fully.

Butler was interviewed outside Punt Rd and he said he's done two months rehab already and got through the half of footy he was expected to do last night. He feels right but said it will be up to Dimma and the match committee if he plays on Thursday night.

If he doesn't get picked for Thursday then Th least he will have an opportunity with the rescues, same with Lambert if they don't use him this week.

And Lloyd and Lambert (or whoever makes way for them) will further strengthen the VFL side to play Essendon.
