How does everyone feel now????

I feel a whole lot better

I still feel a bit bummed because it really should have been us but that is certainly some consolation. For me it's just a massive THANK STUFF.

Yes and no

No guarantees we would have won. Surely there is a silver lining Pies lost?

For me there is in a big way

Eagles did what we couldn't when the gor jumped in the first qtr

Hung in and worked their way back on thr game and look what happened?

They get the flag

Correct. But they had the advantage of hindsight. They probably knew Collingwood would hit em early.

We were totally shellshocked.

We're a 6 - 8 goal better team than the premiers IMO. That hurts.

Goes to show how hard they are to win I reckon. Best team all year, finish two games clear but once it comes to finals it just comes down to the day and if you are off by even a little bit then that's the end. Adelaide could say the same thing after last year. They had a great season, cruised through their finals and then had their pants pulled down on the big day. A couple years ago if someone said we would win a flag, finish on top and make a prelim I think I would have taken it and run really far away. As Tigers fans we should just hope that we can stay at the pointy end for at least a few more seasons and be in the mix for another flag after the decades of crap we've put up with.

Who woulda thunk it?  An umpire had the chance to swing the match Collingwood's way but didn't!  Oh, the irony ...    :lol

Mixed feeling from me tbh the game was hard to watch as all I could think about is that we should’ve been there in our black shorts and traditional jumper.  :banghead

We really choked on the second most important day of the footy year. It’s a disgrace how unRichmond we were that night. We got smashed in every facet of the game that night with Riewoldt the only player that could legitimately hold his head high with a solid game up forward.
The pies showed that we could be beaten at our own game with very astute match ups all over the ground, winning the battle both in the coaches box and out on the field.

Today the Pies run out of legs in the second half and were lucky to have only lost by 5 points as west coast really dominated in the second half without capitalising on their acendecy.

It’s hard to say but if we didn’t waste our opportunity that night, I think we would’ve been able to run out the game longer than the pies were able and I think our game style and pressure may have troubled them for far longer than what the Pies did today.

That said the eagles were very good and it would’ve sucked more to lose the gf and the opportunity to go back to back.

The club that keeps giving.

100% agree. That and also their defence handled cox and the pies fwd line a whole lot better. Even though cox and degoey ended up with 2 and 3 goals, they did not have anywhere near the impact that they did against us.

Props to eagles they wrestled back the game on their own terms and their contested marking was awesome after qtr time.

I thought that it was interesting that, similar to us versus the Crows last year, while Collingwood were in front by a good margin on the scoreboard at qtr time, the Eagles were winning both clearances and contested footy.

Mick Malthouse said early in the second qtr of last years grandfinal that while we were trailing early, that signs very good in that we were winning those two stats and that our coaches would actually be very happy with how we were going.

This year we were worst for contested possession differential, and I'll bet not great on the clearances.

There is a lesson in this for us if we want to win another flag.

I know people over here in the West who reckon the Eagles paid well overs for him.

Well if they did, he is worth every cent of it. His compsure and contested work was first class today. Like Rance last year, stood tall when the game was on the line.
