Would leave it as it is for now. Smaller group lends itself to greater harmony and alignment within the group especially our group at this time

Actually thinking about it a little more

Should we consider a "junior" leadership program? What I mean is get a couple of the younger blokes to sit in on leadership meetings etc, to learn from the main 3?

didn't we do this previously ? was sure Tigga was in some sort of junior leadership group

Yep...think this is already in place.

I know we used to have it, Astbury was in it

But I thought it was stopped once the we bought in the 3 person leadership group

Leadership group 2019: Cotch to remain captain
« Reply #20 on: January 29, 2019, 07:14:16 PM »
Trent Cotchin will again captain Richmond this year for the seventh season, with Alex Rance and Jack Riewoldt in pole position to continue as vice-captains.

Richmond’s challenge under coach Damien Hardwick and leadership consultant Shane McCurry is how to fast-track the growing list of emerging leaders.

“We haven’t sat down and talked about it but Cotch will be captain next year,” Balme said.

“We are talking about different layers and levels of leadership.”

Lynch will quickly emerge with strong leadership, while the Tigers believe Martin is building a strong leadership profile despite his reluctance to talk in the media.

Martin played lame in the preliminary final loss to Collingwood but after admitting replicating 2017’s heroics was tough last year, is in superb physical shape.

“He is in a really good place. He is fit, is he well, he is mentally really good and he’s keen to play well,” Balme said.

Rance, who has made the All Australian side for five straight seasons, expects Trent Cotchin to once again skipper Richmond, with himself and Riewoldt as deputies.

"I think it'll just be Jack, Trent and myself, pretty similar," Rance said.

Meanwhile, the Tigers will take an unchanged leadership group into 2019 for a third successive season.

It will be Trent Cotchin's seventh season as captain and he will be supported by vice-captains Alex Rance and Jack Riewoldt.

The 2012 Brownlow medallist, who captained the club to the 2017 premiership, will overtake club legend Jack Dyer's record of 160 games as skipper if he plays 21 matches this season.

Cotchin will then become the second-longest Richmond skipper behind Percy Bentley (168 games from 1932 to 1940).
