His debut if he ever makes one couldn't be much worse than Martyn's was... :shh

Naish would've completely gone to water in a high pressure game like tonight's.... :shh

Wasn't answering you but now to answer you- on pure natural talent & sheer potential RCD is comfortably better than Martyn...but you know what say about "potential"... :shh :shh

Is he soft? Does he take the short step? Is he scared of contact? Can he tackle?

Adam Kingsley pre-game (on Riley Collier-Dawkins): He's really close, it just comes down to the midfield mix. Martyn covers the ground better than RCD at the moment. We're looking for a more running type (at the moment).

Dawkins can burst from a pack. Martyn is slow. Id try RCD in the team instead.

I do watch the VFL games. You don't notice Martyn as much in my opinion. Dawkins breaks lines inside 50. As does Naish. Think we would have be better playing one of those two. Last week Naish dominated the game. Should have played.

THE RICHMOND SELECTION CALL WHICH "CONCERNED" JUSTIN LEPPITSCH

BY SEN
11 April 2021

Riley Collier-Dawkins was Richmond’s top pick in the 2018 draft, but has still yet to make his debut for the club.

Will Martin and Rhyan Mansell – who only joined the club in February – were handed club debuts over Collier-Dawkins this week, raising plenty of questions why two newer players on the list were selected ahead of someone that is entering his third season on Richmond's list.

Justin Leppitsch, who was an assistant coach at Richmond between 2016 and 2020, conceded that he was “concerned” Will Martyn was preferred to Collier-Dawkins, but offered an explanation into the selection call.

“I was a bit concerned that someone like Will Martyn had gone past (Collier-Dawkins),” he said on SEN’s Crunch Time.

“(Rhyan) Mansell played as a half back so that’s different, but Martyn probably hasn’t been a name (you'd have making his debut so soon) so you could probably ask the question there and could be concerned.

“Listening to (assistant coach) Adam Kingsley (on AFL Nation) last night, they wanted someone that could spread a bit more (from stoppages). He felt that Riley’s inside work was elite, but they wanted someone that could get from contest to contest.

“Maybe that’s the feedback Riley is getting and it’s not as dark as we think.”

Collier-Dawkins will continue to press his claim for senior selection, with Richmond’s VFL side to open their 2021 campaign against Sandringham at Punt Road next weekend.

In hindsight we could’ve done with a someone with elite “inside work”.

We were smashed in that area all night.

Still wish Leppa would shut his gob but he's only saying what we're all thinking.

Midfielder Riley Collier-Dawkins, a first-round draftee in 2018, is still yet to make his AFL debut despite Hardwick long suggesting he was close to playing.

Richmond VFL coach Xavier Clarke said the youngster, along with Hugo Ralphsmith, were both in the frame to play in the AFL soon.

“They are close - probably Riley Collier-Dawkins has been the most talked about,” Clarke said.

“Riley’s been playing great footy, he really just needs his opportunity, almost to a point that ‘when do we just put him in and play him?’ He’s not too far away. He’s continued playing pretty good footy in the VFL. He did get a heavy tag a couple of weeks ago in a practice match.

“He needs to work his way through that but he’s a great kid. He’s changed his body shape - he’s still a very strong boy but he’s lost a bit of the puppy fat.

“He is close. He is our next big mid that we need to get into the side at some point.”
