Excellent performance, think you’d mark that down as his best for the club. Well done Rossy :cheers

He’s been massive! I didn’t rate him for ages and I’ve been super skeptical al season but after some consistent performances I think he Easily cements himself as a starting 22 player with tonight’s performance

Thought he was great tonight

Not sure why he was dropped TBH

See above
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

The 22-year-old wingman/midfielder Jack Ross ended up being one of the Tigers’ best players in their fighting 13-point win.

He finished with 20 disposals, six marks, three inside-50s, three rebound-50s, five intercepts, two goals (2.2), eight score involvements and 518 metres gained.

Interim Richmond coach Andrew McQualter paid tribute to Ross in his post-match press conference.

“Really pleased for ‘Rossy’,” McQualter said.

“He was pretty stiff to go out of the team and become sub tonight. But I thought it was just a great bounce-back from him.

“The areas we asked him to work on in his game we saw tonight, and it was great to see him get some reward for his effort that he puts in.”

Think that was his best game for the club. Kicked goals at vital stages.

Jack Ross needs to stay in the starting 22

After years of moving in and out of the senior side, Jack Ross had strung together 10 consecutive matches this year for the first first time in his career. But with a host of returning players named to face Sydney on Thursday night, including Dion Prestia and Dustin Martin, Ross was once again forced out of the 22 and into the sub role. Injected into the game in the first quarter after an untimely injury to debutant Jacob Bauer, Ross overcame the late start to have 10 touches and two of the Tigers' five goals to half-time while playing on the wing and was one of his side's best in the tight win. With the Tigers heading towards a transitionary period, they need to be playing 22-year-old as often as possible from the opening bounce. – Sarah Black

The Undroppable: Jack Ross

Andrew Slevison
SEN
10 July 2023

After being dropped to the sub role, Jack Ross grasped his opportunity with both hands.

Unfortunately, debutant Jacob Bauer suffered a hamstring in the opening few minutes which forced him out of the game.

Ross jumped out of his skin in a sliding doors moment to replace Bauer and did a fine job.

He finished with 20 disposals, eight score involvements, three rebound 50s and three inside 50s, while also kicking 2.2 from the wing.

Ross appears to be treated more harshly than others at Richmond when it comes to selection, but he simply cannot be dropped after this latest performance.
