Bit of a stretch considering Rance, Jack, Cotch and Nank are out.

Miss his poise, maturity and no nonsense approach, it’s like he’s been playing for years.

Richmond are set to extend impressive on-baller Jack Ross’ contract by two years tying the second-round pick from last year’s national draft to the Tigers until the end of 2021.

Jack Ross has signed-on for two more years at Tigerland.

Ross, a big-bodied midfielder is now contracted to Richmond until 2022.

Jack Ross, the Club’s second round selection in the 2018 National Draft (no. 43 overall) played five AFL games in a row after debuting in Round 4, until he suffered an ankle injury in Round 8.

A skilful stoppage player and clean ball user, Ross was averaging 21.2 disposals, 7.2 contested possessions, 3.2 clearances and 4.5 inside 50’s prior to being hurt against Fremantle.

The midfielder is set to return to the playing field this weekend, after an 11-week stint on the sidelines recovering from a syndesmosis injury.

While Cripps finished with 37 disposals, Ross limited his impact at stoppages to four clearances and held him scoreless.

The young Tiger finished with 21 disposals, 20 pressure acts and six clearances of his own.

Jack Ross Speaks About Being Left Out Of The Grand Final

MMM
24 Nov 2019

Richmond midfielder Jack Ross joined Dead Set Legends yesterday and touched on the heart ache of missing out on a premiership.

Ross was held back from playing in the VFL Grand Final the week earlier and looked to be in contention to play in the AFL Grand Final with fellow on-baller Jack Graham going down with a shoulder injury in the preliminary final.

However, the Tigers opted to roll the dice on debutant Marlion Pickett to play on the last Saturday in September on the back of his best on ground performance in the VFL the week prior.

Ross revealed how much it hurt to be left out.

Jack Ross impressed as a contested ball-winner in his first season, but is looking to add to his outside game in 2020. He has slimmed down in a bid to add to his game, with the club believing his clean ball use will be of benefit breaking from packs.

Don’t expect too many changes at the Tigers, however a slimmed down Jack Ross could be set to play more of an outside role. Ross, who last year burst onto the AFL scene as a brutal inside midfielder, has cut a lean figure at Richmond training over the off-season. That might help secure him a spot in the best 22 next season.

Jack Ross has shed the kilograms in order to add to his seven senior games last season and put his hand up for a place on the wing next year.

"He came into the club in good shape, but he's a big boy," Hardwick said.

"I think he's lost about 7-8kgs since he started, so he's covering the ground really well.

"That was a little bit of a knock on him when we first brought him into the football club, that endurance wasn't a strength of his. But we look at him now, we had him horribly mistaken.

"He runs really, really well. We're excited about what he's going to bring, because he's a first-class kid who oozes leadership, skill and decision-making.

"He's one of those guys who makes players better around him. He's going to be a good player for us for a long time."
