Buckenara says:
The Tigers weren’t big players but have got a really nice player in Riley Collier-Dawkins at pick No.20. He slipped slightly down the draft order but should be a really good pick-up and can definitely play some senior footy next year. He’s the modern-day midfield prototype as he’s both tall and has some size about him at 190cm and 91kg, and can go forward to be a dangerous target and kick goals. Jack Ross is a midfielder who had a fairly consistent season with Oakleigh and excels at stoppages, while Fraser Turner and Luke English are outside players with elite endurance who win plenty of the ball. Those three are development players, so Richmond fans might have to wait a little while to see what they can produce at AFL level.

Buckenara’s verdict:
Richmond has drafted a bit of this and a bit of that, which reflects the balanced nature of the club’s list at the moment. It was a surprise to not see them draft a ruckman out of one of the state leagues to add depth behind Toby Nankervis.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

GILBERT GARDINER SAYS: Got an absolute gem in Riley Collier-Dawkins and the scariest part - for the rest of the competition - is the tall and explosive midfielder likened to Marcus Bontempelli and Patrick Cripps hasn’t stopped growing yet.

Big-bodied midfielder Jack Ross is ready to go, while running machine Fraser Turner is sure to keep Tigers wingmen Brandon Ellis and Kamdyn McIntosh honest.

Hard-working inside midfielder English, who won the 2017 Jack Clarke Medal as the best player in the WAFL colts as a bottom-ager, has been compared to Brownlow Medallist Matt Priddis.

From limited picks, I think we've done as well as I could have hoped although one extra ruck is the glaring omission.

The players we have drafted cover those we lost and I think have bigger upside.

If we can get Stack and sort him out, that would be the icing on the cake and could set us up for midfield depth for years to come.

Matt Clarke's signature is starting to show a distinct difference to Jackson's. There seems to be more flair and better research into the players than there was before. He does have far better resources though at his disposal.
OER. Calling it as it is since 2004.

What happened to Harry Dear. I remember him in last seasons pre season he was pretty good. I thought we should give him a chance in terms of a second ruck.

over the moon with the type of  players we took and considering the picks we had did well.

We  needed mids and we took them and most pleasing is we took mids with size about them or will develop into a good size.

The only disappointing thing about the whole trade draft period was our inability to get some more picks higher in this draft. Sometimes that is not in our control as it takes two to deal.

“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

Solid effort

Richmond

Securing Riley Collier-Dawkins was arguably the bargain get of the first round, as Richmond has acquired a 192cm ball-winning midfielder who bursts away from stoppages and possesses clean skills. In addition, the Tigers also selected Jack Ross, who is an impressive contested ball winner with clean skills.

Fraser Turner was one of the Allies' most productive during the Under-18 Championships, while Luke English built a reputation for racking up the ball in the WAFL Colts through the midfield. Jake Aarts as a mature age prospects is a forward pressure specialist.

Grade: B+

Based on what dios been saying, stack would take our last spot as we’ve also already committed to taking Weller.

Correct- Stack will take the final list spot if we draft him, will give us 38 senior listed players 6  rookie listed players - Baker, Townsend, Chol, Aarts, Weller & Stack ( Cat B rookie Eggmayonnaise not included ) :shh

if we had taken an Ian Hill type with our first pick id have been very cranky.
This draft was so deep for all sorts we have a plethora of, The  Ian Hills types we have plenty of  and it really was the draft to ignore best available, ( that is if the club thought Hill best available)  to a degree and address real needs because of how even this draft was around our pick 20.

We took the player with potentially the best upside who met our greatest need despite him obviously not being the best performed or most consistent junior available. But if he makes it he will meet our greatest need.

Personally my heart was set on Ely Smith i dunno he just looks like a super power athlete and yep he too had not had the performance runs on the board imo.
