Oh well. We do need to Improve
Our picks but maybe there is no appetite within the club to chase these types of deals.
Trading oir 2020 2nd round pick means we cannot trade our 2020 first round pick.

Maybe we have a bigger plan or sitting back waitimg for live trading on draft night

This gives an idea on who may still be available at our pick.

Interestingly, they think Melbourne will trade away pick 9.

Now that GWS are likely to not get a bid on Green until after their new pick 4 then effectively their pick 40 will be wiped out. So we will effectivelly have 3 picks in a row 38, 39 plus 40 (41 moved up one). Not as a great as having two late first rounders (thanks AFL  ::) ) but it will still allow us a decent opportunity for live trading as you say Gracie. Especially with some clubs having very few picks in the top 50.

It depends on who many picks we will use this draft. We currently have 33 senior listed players so it's either 4 or 5. If we're only going to use 4 then it doesn't matter if we trade away later picks cheaply to try and push up the draft order or for future picks to put towards MRJ & our Academy kids available next year.

Fremantle receive picks 8 (Melb), 49 (Adel).

Melbourne receive picks 10 (Freo), 28 (Adel) & Carlton's future fourth-round selection (via Adel on-traded from Freo).

Adelaide receive pick 22 (Freo) & Collingwood's future-third round selection (via Freo).

A fair few clubs can't trade their future first rounder. So we still have that up our sleeve.

Richmond:
Free to trade any future selection as they currently hold a full allotment of 2020 picks.

Carlton, Essendon, Fremantle, Gold Coast, GWS, Melbourne, Port, St Kilda, Sydney, Eagles & Dogs can't trade their future first round pick.

2019 AFL Draft Preview: Richmond Tigers

Aussie Rules Draft Central
by Michael Alvaro
21 November 2019

THERE is seldom much any reigning premier needs to improve on, let alone this Richmond side after a redemptive 2019 campaign. Topping up depth for the future will likely be the go for the Tigers, with long-term replacements for some of their older premiership heroes perhaps on the agenda. They are set to come in at the end of the first round, and could be ripe for the picking in terms of live trades given their lack of a pressing need.

CURRENT PICKS:
19, 38, 39, 41, 56, 75, 77, 95

NOMINATED ACADEMY/FATHER-SONS:
Nil.

LIST NEEDS:

Future squad depth

FIRST PICK OPTIONS:

Pick 19 throws up a few interesting options for the Tigers, with hardened and consistent products often favoured at Tigerland. Geelong Falcons co-captain Cooper Stephens looms as a prospect who would be fresh in the mind of recruiters after a solid national combine showing having missed most of the year through injury, with the inside midfielder a classy future replacement for the likes of Trent Cotchin. Larke Medallist Deven Roberston is another arguably more similar to the Cotchin mould but will likely be off the board at that stage, while Jay Rantall would be a good option if he bolts up the order. Will Gould is a player who loves the tough stuff and would be able to develop his athletic base while trying to break into the ones, while Trent Bianco is a very different half-back with elite kicking skills and leadership who could grow into the role of Bachar Houli.

LIVE TRADE OPTIONS:

Live trading may well come to Richmond more than the Tigers actively seek it out, but their package of picks 38, 39, and 41 could be used to move up into the late-20s if a slider is still on the board. Their hand of five picks past the 40-mark would also typically be a target of clubs looking to cover academy bids, but given the draft is not overly compromised at the top-end, that may not be so much of a query.

REMAINING CROP:

The Tigers can bring in some real midfield and outside class should they hold on to picks 38, 39, and 41, with Sandringham trio Hugo Ralphsmith, Jack Mahony, and Darcy Chirgwin around the mark, while Daniel Mott, Darcy Cassar, Sam Philp and Harry Schoenberg could also fall their way. All of them provide ball-finding ability, have good scope for the future, and have their own points of difference – which suits Richmonds current position. Elsewhere, a player like Louis Butler could be packaged with a Dragons teammate slightly later on, while the Tigers’ last few picks are anyone’s guess, with mature agers potentially coming into the fold.

Callum Twomey @CalTwomey

Essentially, across different trades, Melbourne moved its future 1st-round pick into this year’s top-10.

Other clubs are now trying to do the same. Hawthorn, Collingwood, Essendon, Richmond all linked as clubs who would swap future 1sts for currents. The snag: not many buyers.

And for a mock draft that's completely different ...

John from Lystics AFL @LysticsAFL

"Live Trading Mock Draft Special with Draft Central - Rounds 1 & 2" New podcast ep has just gone up: https://player.whooshkaa.com/episode?id=479217

https://twitter.com/LysticsAFL/status/1197452235837452288

For Richmond they say:

First we trade away picks 21 & 41 to North for 29 & 32.
Then we trade pick 39 & our future 2nd round pick for Sydney's 27 & 44.

Leaves us with picks 27, 29, 32, 38, 44 and no second rounder for next year.

As actual selection they have:
Pick 27 - Dylan Williams
Pick 29 - Nick Bryant
Pick 32 - Dyson Hilder

Not many aspiring AFL draftees can say – or have ever said – they’ve made the Under 18 All-Australian team twice, been part of a national carnival championship team, captained a state side, played a full year of SANFL league footy and won a SANFL league premiership medallion.

But Will Gould can.

A gun South Australian defensive prospect who was described by state coach Tony Bamford as a “boy in a man’s body”, Gould (192cm, 100kg) already has one of the great footy CVs – and that’s at the age of 18, well before he’s walked through the door of any AFL club.

So with the mock trades above landing us 27, 29, 32, 38 and 44 those guys will all be available. Gould maybe at 27 at a pinch
