Gary Lyon, Mr anti Richmond, his commentating on Richmond games is so biased it is disgraceful.

But re the 2nd half we weren't up for the fight. We showed no fight and that's the disappointing thing

Yep. Gary was spot on. They wanted it more. We were second to the ball all night.

It may be that we are just going to throw in a rubbish performance every 3-4 weeks given how many young inexperienced players we have playing atm. Gee it’s frustrating though, nowhere near competitive in any of our 4 losses this season.

Roos wanted it more and out tackling was off by a mile - don’t get me started on that play where Higgins literally shrugged 4 tackles in a standing position then fished off a handball for a goal  :banghead

DAMIEN Hardwick's suspicion was right.

North Melbourne had tweaked its ball movement in Brad Scott's final fortnight as coach, but the process went into overdrive under caretaker coach Rhyce Shaw on Friday night.

Shaw's Roos kicked long 45.7 per cent of the time (ranked third for round 11), climbing to 52.4 in set situations (second), compared to 37.1 (13th) and 39.7 (15th), respectively, across the first 10 rounds.

That percentage of kicks going long spiked from 33.7 per cent in round eight, to 39.3 a week later, then 40.4 in round 10, so there was a gradual shift.

"I really noticed a difference tonight – there's no doubt," Hardwick said after the Tigers' shock 37-point defeat to North.

"But they did go more long down the line last week (against the Western Bulldogs). (It's a) very small sample size, so we'll see how it pans out."

That we will, although the way North moved the Sherrin contrasted with how other teams have approached facing Richmond this season.

Opposition sides tend to flip the ball around when they take on the Tigers, who concede a competition-most 253 contested possessions per game.

However, the Roos – the AFL's No.1 handball team in the first 10 rounds – went the other way, having their fewest uncontested possessions for the season (212).

I watched the replay last night and looking at Bachar closely he doesn’t play on anyone.
At a stoppage he doesn’t even stand beside anyone. It is no wonder Norf scored 99 points against us.
With Rance out that usually covered a few forwards, Houli needs to defend first before trying to get a kick. That is Little League stuff.

Thought Dusty was more deserving of a vote than Houli...

But Tone, Houli is our 'get out' man!  We use him to get the ball out of our back half & hopefully into the hands of a player further up-field.  Having Houli stand next to any opposition at a stoppage sees him effectively tagging himself!  We want him in space so he can deliver, so he stands away from the opposition.  Also, I doubt that Houli is choosing to play loose as a choice/preference/too scared etc, maybe he is following instructions & trying to play the way he has been told to - aka - playing his role.  Whether that is an effective tactic or not is fodder for the next discussion. Maybe we could use other options as that get out man instead of Houli ... Stack?  Ellis?  Edwards?
Once a Tiger, always a Tiger!  Loud, proud & dangerous!

Stuff for Martin. He was one of the few players that kept us in it with his electric goal scoring
