Can't believe people want Soldo dropped this week.  Complete insanity.  He's been so good and getting better.  Beat Grundy v Collingwood and provides what we've been lacking at centre bounces.  A contest.

...or maybe some of us would prefer not to go into a final with a giant tortoise in place of an actual footballer and certainly not with another slow-ish ruckman in there as well...... :shh

Didn’t get to watch the VFL game, did Marlion do enough to earn a senior debut?
He was good but not quite.  Would have to come in for Ellis, Short or Bolton.  I can't see us dropping anyone of these 3.
I only watched a half but I’d easily replace him with any of those three player mentioned.
Not as scared as Ellis and takes the game on and has poise under pressure.
Not as fumbling as Short and has skills to burn.
Not as young as Bolton and would do much better than what Bolton did last game.
The club that keeps giving.

Hardwick said Mabior Chol, Noah Balta and Callum Coleman-Jones were all behind Nankervis in the pecking order.

not sure how soldo beat grundy but anyway....fact is he aint as mobile as Chol so it would be a massive risk playing a (still getting fit) Nank and a improving but still a slow one position player together.....

Granted I also don't want Bolton to go, however we shouldn't play him purely because we're afraid he'll leave if he's dropped for finals.

I actually think his own personal contract saga is effecting his form!

Caatagna & Short out before Bolton ...wouldn't drop Rioli because he usually lifts for finals and although he was still pretty oridinary on blance, he started to show signs of finding form last match...in fact according to OTC he tops the list of players who improve in finals, lifting his oiuput by 97%....mind you they also said Prestia plays worse in finals(I'd say last year brought that down)...and Clangerfield is one the worst finals chokers, but we already knew that... :shh

Interesting to note was that our forwrd pressure last week was the worst all year and we only laid one tackle in the forward 50 all game... :shh :shh

Tigers’ massive selection gamble, heartbreaking Giant call

September 3, 2019
FOX SPORTS

It has been over 750 days since Richmond played Toby Nankervis and Ivan Soldo in the same team.

Foxfooty.com.au predicts how the top eight teams will look like in Week 1 of finals.

PREDICTED TIGERS 22:

B: David Astbury, Nathan Broad, Dylan Grimes

HB: Bachar Houli, Nick Vlastuin, Jayden Short

C: Brandon Ellis, Dion Prestia, Josh Caddy

HF: Jason Castagna, Trent Cotchin, Kane Lambert

F: Shai Bolton, Tom J. Lynch, Jack Riewoldt

FOLL: Toby Nankervis, Shane Edwards, Dustin Martin

I/C: Daniel Rioli, Jack Graham, Ivan Soldo, Liam Baker

Team tips: It’s likely Brisbane will make just one change, with Allen Christensen (hamstring) to replace Cedric Cox.

Fagan’s counterpart, however, has some big decisions to make. Damien Hardwick was impressed by Tony Nankervis’ stunning second half in the VFL on the weekend, with the premiership ruckman expected to line up this Saturday against Stefan Martin. Ivan Soldo should hold his spot in the team, which would squeeze Noah Balta out, with Mabior Chol also being overlooked. Whatever the Tigers decide, it’s a gamble. Nankervis and Soldo haven’t played alongside each other at AFL level since 2017.

Rioli’s finals form can go up by that amount because his H&A form is average at best... And vice versa for the Danderfields’s and even the Prestia’s of this world.

George and Short aren’t going anywhere either... and neither should Bolton. The real imposter is Brandon.

In the Mix - Qualifying Final

Sarah Black
afl.com.au
3 September 2019

RICHMOND

Get them in: Ruckman Toby Nankervis was the hero in the VFL, kicking the winning goal to go with 33 hitouts and 22 touches from around 70 per cent game time. Callum Coleman-Jones and Mabior Chol both performed well but inexperience could count against them. Marlion Pickett (22 disposals, two goals) was also named in the best.

Under the pump:
Versatile utility Noah Balta didn't have much of an impact against the Lions in round 23, but was impacted by a cork. He's expected to be available for selection.

Medical room: Despite reports of Achilles soreness, Dion Prestia trained strongly in a light session on Monday. Sydney Stack has returned to running on the weight-bearing Alter G treadmill after ankle surgery, but as a first-year player will be treated with caution.

Verdict:
Coach Damien Hardwick has said Nankervis just needs to get through training this week, with Balta the likely one to make way considering Ivan Soldo's strong form. Debuting in a final may be a bridge too far for Pickett.

As mentioned in the Pickett thread:

Hardwick doubts Pickett will make AFL debut against Lions.

Can't understand were this notion comes Soldo and Nank can't play together.Soldo takes rucking duties and Nank second ruck mobile around the ground he is no slouch and gets involved.
