Rate a Tiger's year - Josh Caddy?
« on: October 14, 2019, 12:04:50 AM »
Next up is Caddy:

In his 9th season, Josh played 18 games to take his career tally to 157. With the recruitment of Tom Lynch, Caddy's role as a makeshift forward target was made redundant and midway through the season he was sent back to the VFL to learn a new role. Upon returning to AFL level in round 20, he played out the rest of the season as a wingman including the three finals wins and a second premiership.

Season Highlights:
● 19 disps (16 kicks 3 hballs), 8 marks and 6 tackles in Grand Final 89-pt win over GWS at the MCG (28 Sep 2019)
● 24 disps (15 kicks 9 hballs) and 5 tackles in Rd 10 23-pt win over Essendon at the MCG (25 May 2019)
● 24 disps (16 kicks 8 hballs), 5 marks, 7 tackles and a goal in Rd 8 25-pt win over Fremantle at Optus Stadium (12 May 2019)

Richmond career stats to date:

Like the team, he fired at business end. He/ The Club did a great job to remodel his game mid season.

Maybe a positional victim of the Lynch acquisition. 46 goals for 2018 is a sensational effort but I guess he can't be taking up valuable paddock for our Ferrari to skid around in.

Largely I thought his year was average to modest, but I'm glad he saved some great moments and efforts for the last month.

I gave him 5 and maybe that was harsh, but I still think it's a fair way off being a great year for him.

I rated him 6 for the year. Had injuries and thus form loss but reinvented himself as a winger. He finished off the year more like an 8.
His physicality in big games was so important and laid some bone crunching tackles at key moments.
OER. Calling it as it is since 2004.

Have him a 7. He had to reinvent himself and change his game to get back into the 22 and not only did he achieve that he also contributed and provided much needed physicality towards the end of the H+A season. Curious to see where he plays next year

his whole yr 5 thought he was very ordinary for lots of games.
Am i the only one who feels we found a spot for him on the wing at the expense of other players.

I think Caddy is best 22, but I agree he didn't have a great year, and yes I do wonder if he is/was the best option for us on the wing.

So I semi-agree with this point.

Despite that Caddy did the role very well and showed he deserved to be out there on the GF day.

Don't underestimate his sacrifice and team first attitude.

No one was effected more by the arrival of Lynch than Caddy.

Finished the season off like a champ.

I love him - he's tough and got heaps of swagger.

I think Caddy showed his class by learning a different roll “on the run”

Not only did he learn the wing roll, he mastered it.

I gave Caddy a 9

Premierships are hard to win.
