Cut them some slack be honest we lacked composure all game and looked rusty and some poor footy understandably tho don't want to make excuses, but you will see alot of that in coming weeks in the afl.

What a absolutely terrible game. Skills were deplorable. There was a lot of fumbling.

Let’s hope some of the cobwebs are gone for next game.

I do wonder how much impact no crowd has on the game?

I get that it shouldn't but can't help but think it does

We were flat, they had their normal fast start then they fell in a heap. Would a crowd have made a difference?

Only had 3 weeks to train together after a long lay off. Probably only a week of proper match-simulation. We were so way off our best it wasn't funny. The dew made the skills from the lack of preparation and the resulting early set-on of fatigue look even worse. The usual team chemistry especially offensively was also off tonight.

The crowd would have added atmosphere and more tension but not much else IMO. I thought both sides (us after 1/4 time) were fair dinkum and were going harder on the contest than in round 1.

Rioli and Reiwoldt And Castagna were  atrocious.

Pickett was tackling like a beast but couldn’t get hold of the footy.

Lynch was our best forward by a mile.

Bolton was ok in patches

Definitely, i think they call it Adrenalin, no doubt players like Dusty are performers on the big stage, without having the crowd it just takes that edge off, being able to provide something special at key moments can be achieved from crowd adulation. When players are tired a great crowd can push them beyond their limits. As a supporter watching on TV its a much better spectacle when the simulated crowd noise is added rather than deathly silence when a goal is scored, all part of the show and am sure players feel the same way. Hopefully we get the crowds back sooner than later, a huge contributor to our success of recent times.

Yes I hate not winning against the pies but to be honest I couldn't give a toss bag

We won a flag they didn't. We should have won tonight  and they didn't

We played terrible first half of 2019 and still won

That's all i know

Richmond and Collingwood arguably the 2 best sides in the competition showed tonight that Australian rules football as a spectacle is in serious trouble and has been for a number of years ,it’s time to take our heads out of the sand and stop kidding ourselves. Kb

Tonight’s game was lowest scoring drawn match at @MCG in history. Equal 5th lowest drawn match ever. Lowest since 1991. It was also lowest scoring aggregate game at @MCG since Rd 11 (June 10) 1989 when @Richmond_FC 5-15(45) def Brisbane 3-8(26) #aflpiestigers

All those rule changes last year have really helped to spike the scoring ....  ::)
If that game is played another 10 times, we win 7 or 8 times out of 10.
They scored 1 goal in nearly 3 quarters.
That ain’t going to work at the business end of the season.

I know whose game plan and structure I’d rather have for the time being....
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

Shortened quarters probably saved Gollywood from a belting!   We have regularly run sides into the ground & then feasted on their remains, during the entire game but even within each quarter.  The better (fitter) sides can last 3 quarters against us, the weaker sides barely last til half time.  If last nights game had gone to a normal length we would've rag dolled them to the tune of 5-6 goals!   One late goal in each quarter plus another two goals for the match against an opponent on the ropes makes for a 6 goal belting!   We showed signs of getting on top of them, only for the siren to let them off the hook.

that hocking should be sacked immediately. His decision making is about the worst there has ever been in the league. Some had issues with the Andy d, well let me just say next to this rabble he is looking more better by the day.

AFLHQ signing off on the shortened quarters is rubbish, and probably a way to stop us winning, because they couldnt do it in fair play. Was eddie involved in that decision?

You would think unless they are shortening the breaks between games to less than the usual 6-8 days then there's no need to reduce quarters by 20%?

They are clearly just stuffing around with the rules to see if it produces a faster and more exciting brand of football.
