So does anyone know who was supposed to be playing on Smith?

I didn’t see Pickett much on the screen so was it him?
Whoever it was should be ashamed of themselves.

It was Graham for a while. Not a wingman

Played wet weather footy in dry conditions...overdid the cute little tap-ons & soccer kicks sans the run, Pace & pressure required to back it up which just made it look soft, dumb & lazy....also can't help wondering if the lack of crowds are adversely effecting our energy levels...also harder to wear teams down in shorter games.... :shh

I don’t want to single out 1 player as most were poor but if soldo plays next week I watched a different game to the coaches......

Says it all that broad came in for 10mins at the end and was our best ruckman.

I've liked Broad whenever I've seen him play ruck...admittedly more for his follow up work than his actual ruck work... :shh

When Short dropped a sitter after hearing footsteps from Patton, and seconds later Houli short armed it with Patton bearing down again, I knew it wasn't going to be a good night.

That and our forwards not getting near it, while Tim O effing Brien got his hands to almost everything early.

^^^^^ this

Have been wondering myself what if any impact no crowds is having

The obsession of tapping the ball on rather than grabbing it is hurting us big time. I get that it is how we like to play but right now it isn't working.

So IMV there are more times than not that taking possession knowing you are going to get tackled immediately would work better as we get a stoppage, reset and go again.

It's never going to be your night with your superstar full forward is missing them from 15 meters out.

If we don't get a Hawks like response next week then were in big trouble.

All my richmond mates reckon our players dont care about this season. Covid, shorter quarters, longer breaks, no crowds. Its like our players dont give a poo. Bring on 2021.

David King said on 3AW: “If you wobble Richmond … if you can lay a punch or two on the Richmond Football Club, you’ve gotta knock them out.

“Collingwood didn’t knock them out last week … the Hawks didn’t give them the same chance.”

Round 3 Report Card

Foxsports
22 June 2020

RICHMOND

For the first time in over a year, Richmond was beaten; and at the MCG, no less. If we’re honest, the Tigers never looked like themselves on Thursday night, with the Hawks running past defenders described as “turnstiles” by St Kilda champion Nick Dal Santo on Fox Footy’s coverage. A team that averaged 104 points in the finals last season has now kicked just five goals in consecutive weeks. Obviously not having Dustin Martin hurt, but this was otherwise a full-strength side. Something has to be wrong.

In the votes

It’s never a good sign when your leading disposal getters are all defenders. Bachar Houli (25 disposals, six marks), Nick Vlastuin (22 disposals, six marks) and Dylan Grimes (18 disposals, seven marks) were forced into action all night and did about as well as could be expected; they gave up 16 scoring shots and recorded 14 themselves, which doesn’t sound quite as bad as the night looked. Only Trent Cotchin (18 disposals, three clearances) stood up in the midfield.

Room for improvement

Where do we begin? That frantic pressure that has become a hallmark of this side was missing all night; far too often the Hawks just ran through the Tigers. Then there was the ball movement, which was mostly non-existent. Far too often the Tigers were caught plodding their way down the ground as Alastair Clarkson’s boys flooded back and set up a tight defensive structure. On the few occasions the ball actually did get to the forward line, the Tigers made a mess of it, hacking kicks into intercept defenders or in one particularly poor moment watching Tom Lynch miss from the top of the goalsquare. Jack Riewoldt and Ivan Soldo were the lowlights.
